Comparing the 2012 to the 2014 I can do
Can't compare with a 2013, but when I bought my 2012 in October of 2012 I did so because the price was lowered due to the 2013 coming out. It was worth it for me, but then the motor and transmission did not change.
We all know the differences between the old motor/transmission and the new motor/transmission, and taking out the costs of maintenance I think a lot has to do with how you ride. If you do a lot of long distance riding you will really enjoy the extra distance you get with the 2014. If you do a lot of around town or short rides the extra distance might not matter.
I am currently demo testing a 2014, and can say I really do like the difference with the motor and transmission. Yet, these two factors alone would not be enough for me to spend an extra $7,000 or so dollars. I have done some long distance trips of over 500 miles, yet most are short trips of under 150 miles or so.
I can say for the way I ride I would have gone for the 2012 over the 2014, and saved the $7,000.
Just sold my fairly new diesel truck and going to buy a new Spyder but since I have never driven one, I am curious to know if you guys think the RTS 14 is worth app 7k more than a leftover 13 RTS ? seems like a lot for one yr! even considering 3 cyc 6 sp to 2cyc 5 sp I value your guys opinion! You know I don't! Thanks, Jym
