There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Looking for your opinion's

Comparing the 2012 to the 2014 I can do

Just sold my fairly new diesel truck and going to buy a new Spyder but since I have never driven one, I am curious to know if you guys think the RTS 14 is worth app 7k more than a leftover 13 RTS ? seems like a lot for one yr! even considering 3 cyc 6 sp to 2cyc 5 sp I value your guys opinion! You know I don't! Thanks, Jym

Can't compare with a 2013, but when I bought my 2012 in October of 2012 I did so because the price was lowered due to the 2013 coming out. It was worth it for me, but then the motor and transmission did not change.

We all know the differences between the old motor/transmission and the new motor/transmission, and taking out the costs of maintenance I think a lot has to do with how you ride. If you do a lot of long distance riding you will really enjoy the extra distance you get with the 2014. If you do a lot of around town or short rides the extra distance might not matter.

I am currently demo testing a 2014, and can say I really do like the difference with the motor and transmission. Yet, these two factors alone would not be enough for me to spend an extra $7,000 or so dollars. I have done some long distance trips of over 500 miles, yet most are short trips of under 150 miles or so.

I can say for the way I ride I would have gone for the 2012 over the 2014, and saved the $7,000.

7K.....

Unquestionably! I just traded a 2013RT FOR a 2014 RT and would do it again.

Perhaps someone on here that is near to your area knows where you might be able to get a little better deal and close that price gap up a bit and make it easier to make this decision?

I think that is a huge difference for the same model, but as said, it depends on if you are willing to pay that difference.

The 13 & 14 are two different machines, Different motors, clutches, transmission, cooling system etc.

There is not that much different between the 13 & 14 except the engine. Even that is just a bit more low end torque and HP nothing really noticeable. The increase in service intervals is nice but I do not have a problem with 4600k oil changes.I am ready for a break about the time it takes to run a tank out of a 13. The 14 gets another 1/2hr riding time from that point at most. I am willing to bet the oil change interval on the 14s will be shortened. Even with full Synt in a wet clutch the oil takes a beating. The engine in the 13 and prior is a tried and true engine it is pretty bulletproof. Personally if you are looking for value there is no reason not to consider a 2013 RT. ST though:dontknow:

:clap:Welcome to Spyderlovers world!

I bought a new '13 RTS SE5 in November for $19,995. '14s were not out yet, but specs were. My desire for a spyder was for use as a commuter vehicle to enable HOV lane use. So I could buy a deeply discounted spyder then, or wait a few months and pay full price for a '14.

i opted to buy then, figuring if I hated it, I could readily get my money back out of it. 3 months of commuting 60 miles round trip, it has been a great machine thus far. No complaints.

for MY circumstances, the '13 RTS is working out great. You are the only one who can determine which Nike is right for your circumstances

I have a red (actual color) hot (actual riding temp) 2013 RTS. I would NEVER suggest someone buy a 2013. I also have a 2010 RS and it has been a wonderful machine. NO PROBLEMS!! I am not saying don't buy a Spyder, just not a 2013. I would not take the chance. I am not looking forward to the warmer weather because I cannot ride in comfort. I will be calling BRP. If I could afford it, I would be riding a 2014. I am not trying to discredit BRP, I am just telling you the facts. I have the pictures of the blisters on my legs to prove it. Buy a 2014 or a used 2012 (good year for RT) and enjoy the fun of Spydering.

You did ok!

i was going to hang out and wait on the 14 RT Limited but after much back and forth and reading and talking and more reading and talking, we opted for the 13 RT Limited.

it came down to (a) getting one that was in stock and not having to wait and (b) saving nearly $8k :yikes:.

so far it's been a great decision

I bought a 13 RTL with 500 miles on it from the dealer and it came with a 3 year warranty. This summer I put on 3500 miles and smiled all the way! The 998 engine does everything I wanted it to do and with you saving 7 grand, you did ok!
