• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Looking for new Comms - what do you use?

When I retired in 2019 my wife and I did a Coast to Coast and back ride on Hwy 20 from Newport Oregon to Boston and back a longer way. We rode through 26 States and Canada and 11,000 miles in 66 Days. This year we are going to start in the North West corner of Washington and ride to Key West. 6 years ago we bought Senas 30s and they worked fairly well but are have trouble holding a charge and we now keep them plugged in to a charging port when riding. We are thinking about buying new Comms, what do you use and are happy with and would purchase again?

Sena 60S. Some with these will say stay away, they are having issues with static at higher speeds... Mine had this problem, but I reached out to Sena and they sent me two completely new units, everything. Gave me a shipping label to return the old ones, and I've had no problems since. It was talked about it being a bad set of chips, so I would assume that the issue has been resolved.

I ride with a group and we use Cardo PackTalk Edge. Connecting and pairing is pretty easy. The only thing is if you're listening to music and someone talks, the music doesn't turn off completely. I also wish the volume would turn up a little louder.

U-Clear Motion Infinity - one of the best comms systems for eliminating wind/bike noise and giving you seamless and crystal clear audio and comms, potentially even when others are using one of those lesser units!! And their batteries keep 'em going at least all day before needing maybe a couple of hours of re-charging to be ready for the next day! 😁

We use Interphone Tour and are very happy with those. Our previous Interphone 5's did not have good sound and the batteries did not hold for long.
Now we have good sound with the Tour version and last week after putting my set on a new helmet, the voice said "Battery high" when turning it on. I put the previous helmet on the shelf mid October last year, so it is realy holding it's battery power.
It can also connect up to 4 units, but we seldom ride in a group.

So I have the SENA SMH 10's. Yea I know antiques, but I like them and know how to work them. Our batteries were getting to where they would run out say 4 or 5 hours. I took them apart and found a video on YT on how to change them out. So that would be my suggestion if you like the current units, just put new batteries in them.

I have Cardo Spirit HD''s. They work well once you learn the ins and outs of the pairing etc. Firmware can be updated online. We also have half helmet kits on our e-bike helmets and move the radios to the e-bikes when riding them.

I started with a Sena 20S system and it worked well and was relatively easy to move from helmet to helmet. I have now replaced that with Schuberth helmet and its SC1 Advanced system (made by Sena, I believe). It works great.

We have been running Sena 20svo for a few years. Those came about with my old Goldwing which had a wired connection available and the Sena 20 and 30 series worked on the Goldwing specific mount. I just bought a new Schuberth helmet that has their SC2 communicator which is a Sena unit. While the 20s would allow for recharging while being used, the SC2 does not. New procedure, when the helmet comes off, I plug in the brick to keep it charged up. Most folks won't have an issue with the battery life, but I am an Iron Butt person and it is not unusual to ride for 18 hours at a time. This could become an issue, but I hope not. I also had the SMH-10s prior to the 20s - great little units that did everything I needed them to do.

@StalkyTracker and @jdgretz, what Schuberth are you wearing? Thanks.

Sarah
Schuberth C4 Pro, size large. This model is an intermediate oval which fits my head, other models are different. Wore Arai for years and always a medium but the medium Schuberth (at least this model) was way too tight and I could not get it on, so I returned and upped one size. It is snug, especially putting on and taking off, but very comfortable once on with no pressure points. I really like it & the commo, but my wallet didn't. :)

My wife and I have Sena Outrush and Outrush R helmets.

My Outrush R works quite well when paired with my phone for calls and music, but I do get some static when her Outrush is connected for intercom.
I picked up her Outrush for about half price on closeout, and they happened to have her size, but I shoule have gone ahead and gotten her another Outrush R. I think the newer R version does work a bit better.

The Cardo Packtalk holds its charge all day (8+ hrs) even with constant mesh intercom between several riders.
The Sena 50s only last till lunch and need to be charged while at lunch (even w/new batteries).
If you regularly ride with a group, get what they use (unless they're not happy with performance).

Just purchased new helmets form Daytona Helmets. They have their own braned comm units. Have found them to be very easy to link, and use. Voice is clear. Long battery life. It tells you the % of time left when you turn them on. 100% carbon fibre helmet, easy installation.
