• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

looking for most comfortable grips

i like the ryding position of spyder but it does put bit more pressure on my hands than i would like. which one is softest or most comfortable grips out there? and does BRP grip vibration reducer does anything? and will it only fit BRP grips, stock or replacement grips BRP offers? my hands do get tingly and numb after long ryde.

I added the Kuryakon ISO Grips with the Throttle boss to allow me to rest the grip i have on my throttle hand and it cut vibration and hand numbness by 75% now when i have the problem its cuz my grip is to tight. The BRP Anti Vibration are only usable on the stock grips or the BRP aftermarket grips.

Time, as everyone will tell you, will allow you to find that firm grip on the Spyder is not necessary (all the time). But the leaning forward design does apply unwanted pressure and thus tension up the arms towards the back.

I've added Kuryakan Iso Grips, and MM risers. Now my weight is down on the seat, my hands relaxed and the larger diameter grips also help in feel and comfort. There's confidence in my control.

This is a sophisticated tricycle! with power assisted steering. Alot of this is learned when you're relaxed and have finally "melded" with this machine. Let the road conditions dictate your firmness. ONe day, on a stretch of highway, you'll see this. Ride on!

The kuryakyn Iso grips are the way to go. I have the regular iso grips on My Spyder and the flamed iso grips on my Boss Hoss Trike. On the
Spyder you will need the 7/8 in universal grip. You can order these from JP cycles (jpcycles.com). The 13 & 14 they are having a sale, use code 1914 for a 10% discount. The throttle boss is also nice, especially on trips.

I have difficulty in this department, too. Several things that can hel:
1. Relax that grip. Most new riders try too hard.
2. Try slightly adjusting your wrist angle. This helped me immensenly, but feels strange at first.
3. Consider physical therapy. The wrist strengthening and stretching exercises they taught me helped me with the tingling on the bikes, too.
4. Consider installing a throttle lock or tensioner, such as the Throttlemeister, to allow relaxing the throttle hand periodically. Lots of good threads on this forum in that regard. Full cruise control possible, too, if you prefer.
5. Seriously consider handlebar risers or replacements. BRP has the 1" riser, which usually isn't enough (but we like ours). No Magic Neon has handlebar risers, Kewlmetal has replacement handlebars, and Heli-bars makes a barback/riser.
6. Change your seating position a bit. My wife is 5'2" and sits way forward. This would make me nuts, but works for her.
Hope you get things worked out.

I purchased some gel grips that are used for a lot of motocross bikes and that helps but the biggest help was the NMN risers. Took almost all the pressure off my wrists, arms and shoulders while riding. I just love them.

i bought

the cheap foam grips that you usually see on atvs....ive been riding bikes for 20 yrs....and i always hear relax ur grip.....if i relaxed anymore, id fall off! :D no disrepect to scotty.....my problem was so bad that after 5 min of riding my hands, especially throttle hand would go to sleep....i tried gel progrips and gel gloves, better but still not there.....went to the foam grips and i never have a problem that i cant fix by doing what scotty says...thats what worked for me, but each person is different....the good thing is that its not too expensive or too hard to keep trying new grips till u find a pair right for u.

i forgot to mention i have the 1 inch risers too...but even with 1 inch riser and stock spyder grips, my hands still went numb, until i got the foam grips

i have sat on a spyder with nmn 4" riser and i am not ryding like that and kury grip seems to be consensus winner. i have 6200 miles now and my hands and wrist have gotten been getting a workout and gotten more and more used to ryding position. and i do adjust my wrist angle. seems turning wrist down does feel better.
i think numbness come from vibration but the pain comes from so much weight being on the hands. i have to keep reminding myself to keep my back straight as i do have bad posture.

part of it was my f1 slider. i kinda had to get myself a bit lower to get in the protected zone. adding a spacer underneath shield to add few degrees of angle of shield did the trick. now shield is slightly taller and wind goes almost over my head. i am gonna try heating the tip of extension and give it extra bend upward.

thanks everyone for your input.

Interestingly enough, I am happy with the stock grips. I do, however, want to buy the BRP anti-vibe bar ends eventually. If the Kuryakyn Iso's were available with a brushed finish, I might be interested in looking at those down the road. Don't know.

Grip Puppies

On every bike that I've owned in the recent past (10-15 yrs) has had Kuryakyn ISO grips. I love 'em! That being said, with the Spyder I decided to give an under $10 solution a try and so far they're I like them just fine.
They're called Grip Puppies which is a foam sleve that slips over the stock grips. They're sold at several different vendors. Most I've seen are $10 or less. Google Grip Puppies.

I tried them...made the grips too big for me and made my hand tired

i also have small hands and making grips thicker is probably not good idea and iso grip looks good
has anyone made vista cruise or similar throttle lock to work with iso?
or does throttle boss give you enough relief?
