There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Looking for input...license plate location

So I decided when I got my Spyder that I was not to fond of the rear fender and started cooking up ideas on what to do with the license plate. Well I ended up doing the Evoluzione plate relocator....BIG MISTAKE! Shock bottomed out and ripped off my brand new plate and the bracket making it a nice piece of scrap metal AND totaling the under panel. So I decided to do this. I found the other pic of the rear fender mod and love how it looks and am thinking about doing this also as it will hopefully help with riding in the rain with a passenger. Not sure if its legal but I do plan on putting an LED light above it. Whats the other Spyder Ryder input?

Thanks!Resampled_2011-08-19_22-14-26_63.jpgimages-1.jpeg

Mr. Orange....

Well here's mine but I have the sport rack which places it just a little higher.

Here's another idea from VTC with their sport fender (just the red fender).

Here's the option using the mudguard off of an 08 ZX14.

This Spyder won best overall custom at MV and here is her idea.

And the last one I have is a variation on the last one.

Thanks for the response Mr. Orange! I was actually hoping you would see this and respond. I watched the transformation of yours and its awesome by the way!!! I looked at the VTC but that is WAY to expensive! I like my plate where it is but not sure about it being legal even when I get a light on it. Thanks for the other pictures too. I have seen a few of them but the last two really got me thinking. I like the point on the last one but wanna make sure I still have enough fender so I don't have to hear the ol' lady wine about getting wet, HAHA! I see on the second to last pic that it is left longer than the pic I posted, wonder if it was for a reason?

OK....

Thanks for the compliment. I think mounted under the and above the tire might definitely get you in trouble. The vertical mount looks good but it is really state by state dependent. I read a thread someplace on here that it is illegal in WI and some counties are ticketing no matter what state you hale from. I just realized you still have a little fender left so here are another couple of ideas.

Now I know this is the VTC fender but you could use a light weight plate frame like this on your fender. Maybe you could pitch the VTC fender as a holiday or birthday present and it would be better for her because of the superior weather protection it would give her too. :ohyea: Hey it's worth a try. ;)

I love that one mounted on the fender! How is that mounted though? Would still pose an issue with having it lighted though. Maybe a lighted frame?

I think that I read somewhere that you could also use the fender off of a Kawasaki Concours???? :dontknow: But I'm just not sure of my source for this! :gaah:

I have put 4 different fenders on and the only one that works 100% with a passenger is the GSXR fender. This fender has 7,000 miles on it and it eliminates the rain on you passengers back problem, The license plate braking off problem, It helps eliminate the stone throw the sprocket problem, The fender brackets cracking and falling off problem. It is 100% legal in all states, Its easy to clean your wheel and rim and change your belt tier and brakes. it looks cool and it shaves off weight off the spyder. If you put it on right it will not rub I proved that one morning when my wife and I duke of hazzard over a hill bottomed out the spyder with peek tier expansion. and rode it down stone messed up roads with a broken shock, and never once did it touch.

Damn! You got it all figured out LOL. I may just have to do that after I get my first ticket for having mine located where it is. I am really loving having no fender right now. Although I may still mod my stock fender like the one I posted. I am thinking it will still stop the passenger from getting wet....hopefully!

Mine hangs off my MELSMONSTERGARAGE rack that you can't get any more. I used a Cycle Dynamics black license plate frame with the LEDs.

I love the blackout rear fender that is cut to a point in the center of the tire. Maybe I'll put my rear fender back on.

Bob's correct about the Kawasaki fender - I fitted one to mine ages ago, no risk of breagage now. :D The ZX14 and C14 use the same one (tho the ZX one has 2 tie loops which need to be discarded). I've posted pics elsewhere but it's the same as the one shown above.
