LOOKING FOR IDEAS

I have bad hips, and walk with a cane. Walking long distances is difficult for me. I have a handicap tag for my car - the one that you hang from the rear view mirror. Connecticut DMV does not have a motorcycle specific handicap tag/sticker/decal or license plate. Handicap tags in CT are person specific, not vehicle specific, so I could use it on the Spyder, but I know that if I hung my hanging tag on my Spyder, it would be gone in 5 minutes. So, my question is, does anyone else have this dilemma with using a hanging tag, and if so, how did you resolve it so that it does not get stolen?

I put a keyring through mine, and hang it from one of my LidLox... :thumbup:

Thanks Bob, that looks like a great idea. I too have Lidlox on my RTL so it should work for me as well. Are you able to hang both your helmet & the tag on one Lidlox? I assume that you have not had any theft problems or you wouldn't have posted the picture. Thanks again.

I've never tried to hang both at once, but it would work...
Slide the extension through your helmet's D-rings, and then slip the tag's ring over the top! :thumbup:

Nothing is burglar-proof, but it should be too much of a pain for them to play with, when the bike is out in the open...

Nope. No decal in CT. Wish they did.

Have friends that use theirs that way...locking it on with cable . I don't use mine on the bike but have not seen them stolen cause the fine for using a stolen handicap placard here is $4,500. you can get the license plate one here will check into it next time I'm at the DMV :thumbup:

I have attached a clear placcy envelope/pocket to the 'safety card' with a couple of pop rivets, so that the Handicap Parking Permit fits into the envelope & is suspended from the safety card. While I'm Ryding, the Handicap Parking permit folds back over the top of the safety card & it all slides away into the slot on the top of the dash. When I need to display the permit, I just slide the safety card out & flip the permit down. The permit can then either hang down in front of the dash (great shade for the dash on hot sunny days!) & is clearly visible to anyone looking from the rear of the Spyder; or I can slide the permit into the pocket facing the other way so that I can then flip it up & over the top of the dash & it'll then be visible from the front of the Spyder. That safety card has proven to be quite handy! :thumbup:

I am also like Bob. I clip my HC tag to the windshield. It is in a zip lock bag--modified down to the size of the HC tag. Two clothespins complete the package.

Been hanging it this way for almost ten years. So far, I have not lost one HC tag to thieves. When employed as a Finance Director, I parked in a town parking lot in a HC space for many years where I worked. The tag was always left alone.

Our state now offers a HC plate for MC. Our first plate is free and permanent with the proper Doctors papers. The second or additional plates cost $100 each--plus any plate costs. Therefore, I have the free plate on my car and a free hang tag for my :spyder2::ani29:"s. Have not felt the need to opt for another plate at the $100 plus price.

We have the motorcycle HC tags here in GA.

I purchased an annual pass for our state parks. I took a photo of the pass with my iPad with the pass laying on some of the painter's blue tape. Sent a copy to myself via email. With a real computer, I printed out a copy of the blue bordered hanger pass. I wrote in the hole "copy". Then I laminated it with clear box tape. I will clamp this on the top of the Spyder's windshield when parking at a state park.

I had asked them about having a sticker for motorcycles. They told me I would need to stop by the park office. Show the annual pass and they would issue me a paper parking pass good for that day. In a cage, you just drive in with the tag on your mirror and you are good to go. How nice.
