• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Looking for aftermarket exhaust

Questions

New member
I'm looking for an aftermarket exhaust for my 2008 GS. I would like one that would add a low rumble but not be too loud. I looked at HMF but was told that I would need an "HMF EFI" box to clean up the "lean" spots. Do all the aftermarket require these boxes or are there some that do not?
Thanks for any help you can give me on this.

Cant speak for a 08 but have a HMF on my 13 with a K&N air filter without a controller and seems work pretty good. Heard of alot of people running Hindles and loving them. I don't think adding just a new silencer will change the ratio to much, and think the computer would compensate for it.

Good luck with your choice!

ive got this one and no programer woeks fine.and even the cat elemenater, still ok.:2thumbs:

MANY THANKS TO ALL OF THOSE THAT REPLIED !

Honestly

If you want a bit of rumble and not too loud?, the HMF may not be the one for you, unless you can get one that can
have a silencer tip inserted. I had the HMF Performance Series, which doesn't come with a silencer tip and I had
to ride at the back of the group on group rides, it was a lot louder than a Hindle, but not as loud as most Harleys
you hear around the place.

I have a k&n filter and decided to install a HMF.
sound is great loud at first but you will adjust.
for long trips may be a tad noisy.

there is the infamous popping noise when you decelerate.
i was able to purchase from another member the O2 plug in modifier which is no longer availabe. This took away all the popping noise.

MUFFLER 4 SALE

hey 50 YEARS.....
i have 2 i'd part with... let me know if u r interested....
SAM_0926.jpg SAM_0927.jpg this one is carbon-fiber and has baffles inserted to tone it down...

SAM_0928.jpg SAM_0929.jpg Stainless Steel... again, baffled...
the carbon-fiber had a small hole on the inside, which i fixed... the Stainless Steel also had a divit on the inside which has been fixed...
i had both of these on my '09 RS, and didn't need a 'juice box' or any other mods - my SPYD3R ran perfect... you would need a 90 degree pipe for each to connect it up... and you would need a 'hanger' for the SS one... i painted the SS muffler 'black' because i thought i would look better, but the paint can be stripped off, and you could polish the entire things back to a chrome like finish...

let me know if you're interested... i'm asking $100 each... these units go for far more than that when bought new... you pay shipping cost...

Two Brothers with the supressor is a great rumble and I can still hear my music up to 80mph. Get the Juice Box power commander too it is money well spent. Never worth it to cheap it out.:doorag:
