• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Looking for a male connector to fit this? Need to charge GPS!

I currently have my ZUMO XT GPS connected direct to the battery. In this configuration, it will not charge the GPS. In looking for an answer, I opened one of the round plugs by the ignition switch. Lo and behold, there is a 4-contact plug in there. The left two outlets indicate 12 volts with the key on.

Does anyone have a clue where I could get a male connector that will fit the female that is already connected to the bike electrical system?

I am hoping that, with the wire set I got from Garmin, if I connect at that point rather than direct to the battery, it will charge the GPS. It would also negate the need to manually shut down the GPS after a ride.

I can't help with your plug question, but I'm confused by your initial statement. If the GPS is properly connected to the battery, it will charge the GPS. If it isn't charging, or if in the first picture your GPS is running on its battery rather than the Spyder's battery, then I think something isn't correct in your wiring and changing the source of the power to the plug will not resolve the issue. I'd check wiring connections and fuse.

Note that this isn't to say your idea is not a good one. Having a switched source of power for a GPS is great and I hope you can find the needed adapter. But alone, that won't solve the problem of not charging.
 
2 x on something not being right since all electrical roads lead to the battery, even switched ones. The advantage of a switched connection is to prevent parasitic drain when the key is off and the bike parked. A direct connection to the battery should work.

Just about any auto parts store will carry a cigarette plug style end. I believe the Garmin will run off a regular USB cord too. Check the manual. I've seen 12v to USB cigarette lighter plug adapters everywhere, even grocery and dollar stores.

I found the same socket under one of those little covers on my '17 F3-S too. I couldn't find a mating plug down here in Australia, so I just spliced my GPS power wires into the 'key-on hot 12v' wires about 8" below the socket. This allowed me to put the socket back in the stock location in the plastic cover once I'd finished.

I can't speak for later models, but my 2015 F3S has a "cigarette lighter" style outlet under the passenger seat. This outlet is powered only while the engine is running. My Garmin XT came with a power cord with the lighter plug attached. It's a quick and easy fix to run the cord back and plug into the outlet. There are also two customer accessory attachments that can be used as well. One is behind the frunk and the other under the left side cover. Check your manual.

Even if you're able to make it work as stated, the issue that you're going to have is that once you shut the Spyder off, the GPS battery will power the GPS till you tell it to shut off or the battery dies. So, you still have to take action to shut the thing off.

Lots of opinions here, all good. My 2 cents is that you make sure that the circuit can handle the load you are attempting to add to it. In this case it likely can, as that harness appears to be for the fog light switch - assuming the 2024's are the same earlier models in that regard.

If you never plan on adding fog lights, it's an interesting choice for the outlet/charger plug. If you would ever consider adding fog lights at a later time, there are many other places to tap into for power. Assuming the 2024 is the same as the 2023, there is an easy OEM location to do just that. The only issue would be finding where to mount the receptacle etc. but you could just get creative with that.

Actually no. The Garmin XT and every Garmin GPS I've had will automatically shut down within 10 seconds of shutting off the power. It takes a manual override to switch it to battery power.
 
If connected directly to the battery, and in the correct polarity, the XT2 should charge. I had a situation with an XT where the two pins in the saddle were not connecting to the back side of the unit. Check to ensure the small, spring loaded contact are projecting out of their location. With the GPS removed from the cradle, sight along the flat surface and make sure the pins are at that level. If not, take a toothpick and push on the contacts: they should depress when pushed with the toothpick and spring back into position.

Since 2015, I've always tapped into the customer circuit under the left service panel to power the GPS and some other accessories.
