• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Long time lurker finally belongs!

Hi, well after years of lurking it has became our time too. We've been looking at Spyders since the checking them out at the original Spyder greeting Gatlinburg back in '08.
I gave my wife a new to her Black 2011 Spyder RT-S. It was dealer owned but it had never been sold. They used it as a demo so it has very low miles.
My wife was completely surprised when she opened a small wrapped box from under the tree. The box contained two keys and a color brochure of her Spyder.

Since it is all completely original with no add on items it truly feels like a new machine that we can customize to our likings. Already ordered some items for her, bag liners, full cover, new leather Can Am gear for her. Sena 20s to upgrade our bike to bike communications. I really like some of the lights and things I've seen some of you guys have installed.

Theres a good chance I'll replace the Goldwing with a F3-T or Limited, if I feel I can give up the feel of carving through the twisties.

Anyway, we're glad to be aboard I'm sure we'll have questions once we get some time on it.

:welcome:Enjoy the new ride! 1st thing you will want to add is a BajaRon Sway bar and billet Heim links, makes it handle like a different machine!!!!!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

CARVING

Thank you for the welcomes!
To be clear we have rented them before, both riding 2 up, and each driving one. While not nearly as many miles as most of you this wasn't a blind nor impulse buy.

I wasn't meaning to imply anything about difference of speed a Spyder might or might not have when compared to the Goldwing and having fun in the twisties, it was the directed at the deference in the sensation of losing the feel of leaning into & out of a corner and how the G-forces are felt when we ride a 2 wheel bike. Of course the G-forces are still there, they are just going to be felt differently on a Spyder.

But since it was brought up, the Spyder I'm comparing it to (my wife's), is down about 18 hp and about 40 lbs ft of torque and at similar weight as the Goldwing. This Spyder is over 2 seconds slower in posted times of each of the stock bikes in 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. I've played with Spyders before and well when the Wing gets serious, they seem to either back off or are not able to keep up once the Wing starts coming out of the corners with floor boards scraping but still accelerating full on! Like you are on your Spyder, I am very comfortable on my Wing as it nears it's perfomance edge. It has been my only street bike that wasn't a crotch rocket since my first one; a '86 GSX-r 1100 that I bought brand new as a 22 yr old youth! (I still have that bike, only laid it down once. :( )

All that aside it's not about how fast ... It's about the feeling we have while riding our bikes and like I said, if the Spyder RT-S can give me a feeling I enjoy I will buy a F3-T or Limited because I like that look, but if I can't get into the ride or miss leaning like a 2 wheeler does I might not.

Now; the FUN can begin!!:ohyea::yes:
