• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Loctite

The Spyder manual suggests Loctite 243 (blue) just about everytime a threadlocker is used. There is also 242 (blue). Yesterday I saw a bottle of 243 being used but it was red. Loctite 271 is supposed to be the Red one. When taking the back wheel off yesterday (for a new tyre), the threadlocked appeared to be yellow.

Then there is Permatex. I believe Permatex Red is equivalent of Loctite 271 and Permatex Blue is equivalent of Loctite 243.

What Permatex or Loctite are people actually using?
As per manual or what they think as suitable?
What is the yellow one or did it change yellow from blue over time?

Loctite ??? Blue. Had to change my licence plate bulb and having herd about people losing there cover over the bulb i thought lets put Loctite on it.:gaah::gaah: Man that stuff eats plastic !! Now i need a new cover that you can't buy without buying the whole fixture.:gaah::gaah:

Try Permatex black windscreen sealant for that. There is probably a Loctite equivalent sealant.

BRP appears to apply a yellow permanent threadlocking material to their screws and bolts. This is fairly hard upon application, unlike the liquid threadlockers applied at time of application. Same principle, different material and method entirely.
.
Loctite has two consumer threadlockers for mechanical fasteners. Blue Loctite 242 ("removable") removes with hand tools, and is used for most applications. Red Loctite 271 ("permanent")is tougher, is more heat resistant, and requires the application of heat and hand tools for removal.
Use the Blue for everything but studs and bearings you want to stay put nearly forever.

There are not enough threads on this screw for Loctite to hold, even if it didn't damage plastic. I suggest a dab of RTV silicone just before you put the cover on and tighten the screw. Leave overnight and the screw will stay put. P.P. A longer screw helps. Plastic cover breaks easily without the Loctite, just by tightening the screw. I reinforced mine with a piece of styrene plastic inside.

I put silacon on plastic then screwed it on and it holds the plastic cover even if the screw comes out it stays on easy fix
