Loctite on threads

Having removed the tupperware a few times I began to wonder about reapplying loctite to the screw threads. The pale yellow material still shows up on some of the screws but others are understandably clean. What is the opinion of the group? Reapply loctite or don't bother. I have never had a screw come loose so not sure if it is needed or not.

I apply blue locktite when I work on the spyder for piece of mind.

That's not loctite. You don't want to get any loctite on the tupperware. Trying to get the screws into the panels without scraping any of the loctite off the screw is fairly hard to do. The loctite will damage the panels.

That is a form of loctite. It's Dri Loc 201 used commonly at assembly on many products including Harleys. You can use Blue 242 Loctite. Just make sure the Loctite is not outdated.

personally I don't use any loctite on the torx screws holding the pastic panels to the roadster or together. If you ever get them cross threaded and/or loctited it is a bear to get apart without damaging the panels. If properly installed and tightened they never come loose. Loctite needs to be on frame bolts engine mounting bolts etc...jmo..:thumbup:hyea:

After having several screws on my after market parts vibrate loose; I've loc tited (blue) all fasteners every time I reinstall them.

Are you saying loctite products will do no damage to plastics? I ask b/c I've seen threads on here where a few who have used loctite said they got it on the paint and it discolored it and others who have said they've used it and it damaged the actual plastics.:dontknow:

On all the screws on my spyder (for plastic panels) I use a rubber backed washer, which someone on here a long time ago had recommended. It fits nicely under the screw head (so not readily visible) and b/c it's rubber backed it doesn't seem to vibrate loose. I've had my panels off many times over the years and have never re-added anything to the screw ends. So, I cannot from actual experience say that loctite is or isn't okay for plastics or the paint.

Unless a screw or bolt shows a tendancy to want to, "Be someplace else"; I leave the Loc-Tite in the cabinet. :thumbup:

I've had my '08 body panels off more times than I care to count.

The Torx headed bolts with the yellow stuff on them have never shown any tendency to come loose, despite many re-usings & no further application of anything. That stuff is great IMO.

On my 2011 RS-S SE5 I use DZUS 1/4 turn clips, like on the left panel you remove the check the oil , no more Torx headed bolts or Loctite.

what he is saying any one that has been around bikes know you always use loctite on bolts the vibration from bikes and the rode will lossen bolts a lot of things will damage the plastic it is meant for screws not plastic but you are correct if you leave loctite on the plastic i will mark it
