or keep in your wallet,& spare @home...Call your dealer; he'll know how to get into it!
Then; get yourself an Ilco X-270 key blank, and have it cut to match your chipped key. Hide it behind some bodywork where you can get to it during times such as these...

Running down the left side of the steering column are some wires and a wire that looks like the brake cable on a bicycle. If you give that a gentle tug it should open the frunk. A little B&E for you to practice. Hope this helps.
Just sayin'............

Some good ideas on how to get the trunk open given. Bob suggestion on getting a spare unchipped key is a good one. I have that. What I want ot point out is you should always have a minumum of 2 working keys. It sounds like you don't. If you lose your 1 and only working key, it could cost you $800 to $1,000 to get it fixed. Getting another key programmed from the dealer for $80 is a lot cheaper.
Explain how an ILCO blank cut like your original keys works. I thought there was something electronic in the originals. Will the ILCO key work the ignition or is it just to open locks?
An Ilco key cut like your chipped keys will only open locks, you cannot use it to start the Spyder. That's what the chip in your OEM key does, talks to the Spyder electronics so you can start/run the roadster. On RTs, sorry, don't know about other models, the Ilco key will allow you to lock/unlock the Spyder rear trunk and saddlebags as well as open the frunk and unlock the seat to gas up. You must however do a little beveling of the key to do the frunk and seat so you can push the key down far enough to engage the mechanism. My beveled key looks like the one in the picture.
I keep a "Dummy" key in a handy spot, and a spare "chipper" stored in the Frunk. Many thanks! I didn't think of the ILCO spare and will likely lock my 2nd key somewhere when traveling and keep the ILCO in my wallet as suggested. I have an RT and must push down to unlock seat/frunk and understand the "beveling" issue. Again many thanks! wg

I understand that ILCO makes most key blanks for key shops and hardwares... my point is, what does having this spare for your wallet buy you? TIA (I am newbie... please don't beat me!) wg
PS: I was hesitant to carry my 2nd OEM key because if damaged it would cost quite a bit to replace.

What I have done is duct taped an unchipped key in an accessable, hidden location on my Spyder. .
Since this is an RSS you are talking about the frunk, correct? If so I can send you an easy procedure to unlock it. Let me know.I have a problem. I locked my key in the trunk of my 2011 RSS. Two locksmiths could not open (couldn't pick the lock). HELP!!
