• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New to the Can am, we have been on two wheels for a long time and know to keep the weight low. We would like some feed back on the can am, how to best load it so we don't have issues with handiling. We like curvy mountain roads. She will ride the can am and I will have the harley or FZ1. Thanks

Thanks for the help, we will just load it like the Harley, bags in the side and ridding gear in the top. Vickie is very light so I don't think we will have to bump up the springs untiil she gets enough miles under her belt to have her grandson on the back. Until then he will go with me on two wheels.

Once you realize that you can't beat some basic laws of physics; it's actually pretty easy...
Keep the weight low...
Keep the weight low...
and keep the weight low; as low as possible.
These bikes handle pretty darn well; better than any conventional trike by a long shot! The V.S.S. system will let you know if you begin to "Tickle The Dragon's Tail" a bit too much.

Your dealer probably has the shocks set on the middle position, you may wamt to jack the spyder up, and move them up to a higher setting, but only after you test this setting out. It will take a while to get use to the Spyder. The best way, is go to an empty parking lot where you can practice. Have fun.......and...... :welcome: You came to the right site for any questions.

:congrats: and welcome!! This site is a wealth of information!!

Enjoy the ryde!!

I have a Asoen camping trailer I use most the time and also have a bag for the back of the spyder when we need a bit extra storage.

Larry - I broke down and went for a 100 mile ride today, and that bag would have gained 150# from all the stuff tossed up by that fat rear tire - mine tossed so much, some of it hit the windshield… Mist, light rain, snow, and cruddy roads….

It looks like a Pakit Rak it attaches to the hitch ball of the trailer hitch. Thought about getting one myself then found a great deal on a 2010 RT 622 and got that instead. They make them for Spyder RT's. It is mostly Honda stuff, you will just have to search the web site. Hope that helps...

The cargo compartments on the RT are already nice and low...except for the topcase. Mind the individual compartment weight limits in your manual, and keep the heaviest stuff out of the topcase, and you'll be fine. As was said, be sure to mind the spring preload settings for passengers and cargo to avoid excess body roll. Unlike a bike, however, a Spyder doesn'tsuddenly become unstable because the weight is too high. You may want to look into installing a BajaRon swaybar if the body roll is still uncomfortable for you.

:agree: And then there's always the Elkas that are lurking just around the corner...

It really does just come down to how much body-roll you feel comfortable with. If it cornered perfectly flat; the suspension would probably be too hard and harsh for a comfy ride. Just find the balance that you like; give the loud grip a good twist, and log some miles and smiles! :D
