• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Limp

So far, how does the ACE stack up for avoiding limp mode. Any cause will do. My 2011 RTS with 58K has limped on me for the last time thus prompting this query. This post is not to rant or start a rabbit trail about my current RTS problems, simply put is the ACE in an RTS any better off in avoiding stranding ?

It depends on how prone to failures, your bike is... nojoke
Mt 2010 had it's fair share of "shutdowns", due to failures of the throttle body, and throttle position sensors...
My 2014 has been flawless so far!

 Did I just jinx myself? :yikes:

LIMP MODE

....Currently, the D.E.S.S. module, which was being used in the 14 RT's and some 15's seem to be the most frequent cause of the LIMP mode occurring. However they may actually have found the reason for the glitch ( either the supplier or manufacturing process ? ). From what I've read here, the latest batch of fixes for people who have had multiple DESS modules replaced has been successful..................Sooooooooooooo It may not show up in the 16's....    ........................Mike

We've had our 2014 RTS for almost 2 years with no problems at all, our 2010 RTS
had all kinds of problems so I think BRP has gotten all the bugs out of the RT's
and the 1330 ACE is one of the best engines I've seen in a long time.
Plus we love the SE6 transmission! We have almost 19,000 miles on the 2014 now.

I wouldn't say the electrical system in a 14' is any less prone to failure than a 10'. But I wouldn't say any more prone either.
Keep in mind there are always going to be some rotten apples in any bunch though.

Gotta say...

It sounds like your ready to move up. So far there has been little on the limp business for the 14/15 models. If your limp problems were engine related the Ace has been near perfect. If your issues have been electotechy they are doing well...

No limp mode issues on my 2014 RT-S. 22,000 miles so far.

Had a couple on the 2010--but they were caused by me riding the brake unawares.

My 2010 went into limp mode the second day I had it but that was the only time it did. I did have other issues that put it in the shop though. No limp mode so far on the 14 and just had the first issue with it at 64500 miles.

"Issue"...can you elaborate? Thanks

This very week BRP stepped up to the plate and graced me with a new TB. I paid for the labor to replace, and Pyder runs as new. This makes #3 in 59K miles. The last one went 10K miles, hence the BRP involvement. Leaving town (not too far) Saturday for the first time in months. See you in my mirrors...
