• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Lifting an RT

That my be a final solution but, I would like to have it properly balanced first. My bikes sit for 3 to 4 months during the winter and I really prefer not to have a flowing liquid in the tire for that extended time. I know what they say about this not being a problem but, that would only be a last resort.

Being new to RT's, what about Dyna Beads.
 
With a little bit of careful shopping; an ATV lift can often be found for well under a hundred bucks... They've got a nice wide cradle that supports the bottom of the bikes with a lot of placement options. :thumbup:
Downsides? :shocked: They all seem to have about a 1000 pound lift capacity, and that is getting stretched by a fully-loaded RT...

I used counteract balance beads in my new tires on my Vulcan, they seem to work fine.:rolleyes:

6,000 Miles ago I used Counteract beads when I put New Tires on the GS and they work Great- Better than Dyna beads because they are much smaller and stay electrostatically charged and attached to the walls of the tire for up to a week before they fall off- Dyna Beads bounce for ever and can take toll on the inside of the tire.
Spyder uses 2 Ounces in front and 3 Ounces in rear.

I read on a post somewhere that the Sears Craftsman Motorcycle/ATV lift works to lift the Spyder RT. So, I bought one. Now that I have it, I'm having trouble seeing how I can lift my Spyder to install a BajaRon Sway Bar (when it is available) and the Bumpskip I already own. Looking under the Spyder, I don't see enough of a flat area to set the lift. Where did you set the lift? Has anyone used such a lift on your 2013 RT?

Come in from the right side of the Spyder. Put the jack just behind the spoiler near the front wheel. If you look under the Spyder there, you will see the rectangular frame in the center of the machine. If you slide the atv jack in there, you will catch the rear of the horizontal part of the frame with one pad, and the other will be on the frame farther forward. The Spyder will balance pretty well there. Be sure to put jackstands under the front to stabilize the Spyder before you start to work.
 
I have a different need to get under my spyder every once in a while. I like to get under it and just look at the condition of things underneath. I recently bought a set of Harbor Freight metal ramps to drive the front tires up on, in order to get enough clearance for installing the bumpskid. They worked great for getting under the front end. If I were to add a 3rd ramp and place it under the rear tire, while having the front tires aligned to the other two ramps, couldn't I lift the entire roadster up together? It seems it would be very stable lifting all 3 tires this way and also safe to work under, if you have the parking brake set. IOW, driving up 3 ramps simultaneously. Anyone try this method, just to get under the roadster periodically?

Exactly how would you access that third ramp without having to drive over it? You might be able to do it backing up the ramps, but remember that the Spyder is very fickle in reverse, and instead of cutting back if you spin the wheel, it shuts off. The rpm is also very severely limited. You may nat find the power to climb a steep ramp backwards.
