• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

lift rear end

Anybody lifting the rear end by the brp hitch? 2015 SE6.
Seems that it would be simpler to put a sizzor jack under the hitch.
Maybe a 2X4 across the hitch behind the tire then the jack under that.
It would make it easy to clean the the rim. Maybe even easier to check
the air pressure. Now ain't that stem a pain to get to?
Just wondering,

Depends..!

What your trying to do. If you lift from the hitch you will be compressing the shock. For wheel and belt work you want to take the load off. You should be fine lifting from there but I would stick to the conventional way..imo..

In another post someone pointed out that the tongue weight is 45 or so, if you lift from there you are lifting 300# probably more, doesn't sound like a good deal.

I would guess that the tongue weight limitation is due more to what would happen to the handling of the bike...
The hitch itself looks strong enough; but I'm no engineer...

You'd need to chock the front tires, since no brakes would be holding the bike in place while doing this.

... :lecturef_smilie:And proceed with extreme caution; this seems to be unknown territory.

That's how I wash the wheel/rim on our '14,just block the front wheels if your driveway has any kind of slope to it. And yes I have to hand it to the college boy who designed where to put the hole in the rim for that valve stem!!
