• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

License Plate Helmet Locks

Has anyone tried the two lock unit that bolts to the license plate mount? Does it work, and how does it compare to grip mounted helmet locks I see online? The stock setup leaves much to be desired. Thanks.

I'm curious as well... Will the fender take the extra weight of 2 helmets, and would one hanging on the right hand side come into contact with the muffler? :dontknow:

You do realize that there are two helmet hooks under your seat, don't you? If your helmet straps won't reach them, extension loops made from 1/16" aircraft cable from the hardware store, or just a looped zip-tie, will do the job nicely. The hooks work fine if you have't removed your seat lock.

There called Helmet Guardians, Ive used them since 1999 on all my bikes, Except the ''Spyder''
I didn't put it on my 08 because i felt the mounts couldn't hold the extra weight .

On my two wheelers the mufflers were on the right side, So when the bike was on the kickstand [remember them] the helmets would lean left and not hit the muffler.

I normally lock my helmet in the frunk, but when it's full, I lock it to the bar on my Utopia backrest with this lock:

I also use a helmet lock extension to make it easier to lock and unlock the helmet since it's a bit tight, but that's just my own preference. I store the lock and extensions in the pocket of the Utopia so it's always at hand and easy to get to.

These aren't exactly the most easy locks to use. Especially if you have a heavy aftermarket seat like a Corbin. You try holding that seat up while trying to loop the end of your helmet onto that little hook.

Agreed, they work best with the stock seat.

I've also thought about using a set of handcuffs. You can then secure the helmet just about anywhere. Not to mention any would-be thieves might be dissuaded by the thought of a cop owning the helmet they're thinking about stealing. ;)

Both of our helmets fit in the frunk, when it's empty, otherwise, there's a kit for the Kury grip mounted locks, which I have used on various bikes for years. They work well, and do require you to use an extension, but look nice, and are a 10 out of 10, in my book.

We've got 2 Fuel modulars; we can get one or the other in the frunk, but not both! :gaah:
We stick one in the front and another in the right saddlebag if we aren't loaded down. The seat hooks work at other times...or we use PacSafe retractable cable locks. Those are handy because they can also go through the sleeves and lock the jackets to the Spyder.

I just found out that we CAN stick one of them (the Missus'), in the right bag... IF we lay it on it's side, say a prayer, and the SLAM the door shut quicker than a souped-up mouse trap!

Velcro Option

Both of our helmets fit into the frunk along with gloves and kevlar shirts.
If we need to make an additional stop with the frunk full of groceries, I use velcro loops that are used to secure power cords etc. as an extension and use the factory hooks under the seat.
It works well and is secure.

A Corbin seat eliminated the seat hook option - with the charging dongle, you never have to pop the seat.

Considering all the dirt my back tire kicks up, don't know that I'd want my hat anywhere around it...besides, on the bar ends, a cover could add some protection for the helmet(s).
