There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. You are not going to believe this one. I went to Tyler to try to get my motorcycles license a couple of months ago. I failed the skills test because my legs are too week to handle a 2 wheeler. It took me awhile but finally found someone 70 miles away that gave 3 wheel course. Last week-end in heat of 110 for 18 hours on the school parking lot a had no problem with the skills test in fact rode my own RT there 3 times 360 miles total. Took a written test 50 questions I missed one. Okay today I went to the DPS to get my license and the lady said "you have to take a safety course". I told her I just did and I had a card she was holding in her hand to prove it. She called Austin TX and the lady down there said she didn't think I needed a license for a Trike but she would call me after she "researched it". That woman has been working here at the DPS office for years. Can you believe it, that's all she does 6 days a week is issue driving test both written and road test.

Wow. That's insane. Here in Missouri the course can get you out of the state police ran skills test but this only applies to two-wheelers that last time I checked. Plus, if you take your skills test on a trike, you get a trike only marking on your license (which makes sense). Apparently they are working on a trike course but it has a bunch of hoops to go through. The current trike courses offered will not give you an exemption which seems stupid but then again there isn't one close to St. Louis anyway. We have a ton of Harley dealers who all give courses for the skills exemption and they all sell trikes. You'd think they'd be pushing the state to get trikes included on the exemption.

Michigan has a new "trike" endorsement, and testing specific to that endorsement. The standard cycle (2 wheel) endorsement will allow trike operation, but a trike endorsement does not cover 2-wheeled operation.

DPS Again

Just to add a little to add to this thread the guy the gave me the 3 wheel safety course and skill test does this once a month for the past several years and no one has come back to him and said they need a 2 wheel course.

If anyone from Texas reads this thread please respond if you only have a 3 wheel safety course only, please. Thanks Doug I

TRIKE ONLY LIC

Same here in Vermont they finally wised up about people taking the MTC. opr lic. with a trike ( SPYDER ) and aceing it...:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:....Too many people were getting MTC license"s and not being able to drive one .....:hun: :agree:

Glad I've got the standard; would not like to be limited in what I could potentially ride:yikes:

In Arkansas you have to take a 25 question test for motorcycles. Than you have to take a skill test. I went to State Police to take the skill test and the office asked if I was riding the Sypder?
i said yes he passed me with out taking the test. The resound was he had followed me for 10 miles and said I knew what I was doing.

Really..!!!

it can't be that hard. Not like trikes (Forward and reverse) haven't been around since the wheel.. To bad dmv's around the country can't get together and set some rules up...:dontknow:

trike

i took a trike 1 day class to get my card up in san antonio then went and took the written test

i had to sign a waver to only drive a trike for the state

they are not offering the class anymore from what i hear

NC finally has an MSF trike course. Bruisersbaby will be taking it this month even though she has her endorsement.

As been said, before. GoldWingRoadRiders have a trike course, but nothing for the State requirements in Ohio. Good training in my opinon and they will let you use Spyders. I did it on VTX1300 Honda trike and the spyder.
Oho has two wheel endorsement which lets you ride 2 or 3 wheelsor
a Three wheel endorsement which only allows you to ride three.
If you really want to push the system, you can get a license for 2 or 3 wheels, that will not allow you to drive a car.

Arkansas troopers were very helpful and courteous. Took 25 question test. Then basic skills test in parking lot. An overall pleasant experience!

My situation was smooth. I took a 2 day safety course on a scooter and passed(not top of the class but not bottom either). took the written test a few days later and failed it....studied that night and took it the next day and only missed one. That was it.:doorag:

Here in Texas you have to have a motorcycle endorsement on your license...no designation for trikes...they also honor the mc licenses from other states...a simple written test...then they should just ask for proof that you took the safety course...and thats it.;)

California DMV

California does not require a motorcycle license because they do not
consider a Spyder or any 3 wheel rig a motorcycle. they are .....
should I say it.... a 3 wheeled car so your car lic is OK
In cheching with the CHP I was informed that if it were to be considered
a motorcycle then every meter maid would have to get an MC lic. But
even that don't make sense because meter maids don't have to use a helmet
because they have a top on their 3 wheel units ??????
none of that is logical, because Spyders and other topless 3 wheeled rigs
must use a helmet and they have motorcycle lic. plates...???????:hun:
