• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The misses and I rode the RT to Tarpon Springs, Fl today. We did the usual tourist things. When we got ready to leave I put the key in the ignition, turned it to the "ON" position and had an immediate major pucker.....Nothing on the digital display! The bike started but still no screen. The analog gauges were functioning. As we started home and I was having thoughts of a warranty, visit the digital screen slowly began to return. Then it struck me! I had parked the RT where the Florida sun was beating directly on the display, temporarily washing it out. When left in the sun I will now throw a rag over the screen to prevent the digital display from temporarily washing out and inflicting unintentional cardiac excitement.

Pull the warning card down when you park. It shields the screen. That's what I do!

Wow. Glad to know this. Thanks for the tip.

Question: Has anyone actually done any serious documentation concerning this? At what point does it happen?
85, in the sunshine? :dontknow:
90, in the shade? :dontknow:

It is only caused by direct sunlight combined with heat, it don't happen in the shade.

For sure..!!

Been doing that for a long time. Sadly the sweep needles as still turning a girlie pink from ryding in the sun. I also pull the card down when the sun is to my back while ryding. Never had the screen fadeout on me...

:agree: That's what I do also here under the brilliant Arizona sun. This is the only useful thing I can find to do with the safety card :doorag:

Digital display washout

I have seen no empirical evidence which supports any hypothesis as to the combination of light and heat that initiates digital display washout. Maybe the engineers as BRP can help.

:agree: Or....
