• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

LED's overall question about instal

I was watching a youtube video, and the tech was saying that he has seen a lot of spyders in for DESS issues that were caused by people adding LED's to there bike. If/when a LED fails, the CAN/bus system creates a fault in the DESS, and puts the bike into limp mode. I have seen on here that LOTS of people have added LED's, can anyone confirm or deny this? :dontknow:

Thanks

LED's & D.E.S.S.

I have and have had both :banghead: ..... My LED's are not connected to the Can-bus system..... So my DESS module doesn't know they are there ....... Unless the TECH is saying the MODULE can recognize the ADDED led's from the one's BRP already has on the Spyder. And that co-incides with the Theory someone here told me that the BRP " NANNY " could tell what kind of tires you put on your Spyder :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: ....... Mike

I'm pretty sure that I know the video that you are speaking of and I will just say that you can't believe everything you read on the internet.

I have pulled the plug on 1 LED and no codes piped up. I think there is a code that noted the current drop on the headlights if 1 OEM failed but does not put the bike in limp mode.
Ag far as tires go thats a fatalism. Running none OEM and no codes or problems only better tire millage.

I am not believing, but am checking. I have the sequential turn signal LED's the Finless Bob installed. (I know he uninstalled them, but I have a new idea, we'll see if it works) But I wanted to check with you guys, and your years and miles of experience.......

I took the seq. LEDs off because they were just not bright enough for my liking.
I since put on the MUTH mirrors.
Someone suggested that you sand the back of the mirror where the LEDs go to make the mirror in that spot more transparent.

As for the video Ann is talking about, she is not talking about mine. She is talking about Shawn Smoke that made a video saying a add on LED caused a code and failure problem. In fact that was not the issue as later the person had the problem come back. Shawn was saying the lights are on the can-buss which they are not.

So just clearing some things up.

Bob, yes that is the video I was talking about.

As for the sequential LED's in the mirrors, I am planning (over the winter) to remove the mirrors and map out where the LED's are, and remove the backing in those places.
I really liked the looks of what you did. And understand the need to have them brighter.
