• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

led turn signal indicators

I would like to install led turn signal indicators on the furthest outside edge of the mirror housings on my 2014 RTS...

I DO NOT want the led's to reflect in my eyes when looking into the mirror when the turn signals are on...

Anyone have any experience with installing them there???

THANK YOU, larryd

A DIFFERENT ROUTE

Since I had my stereo speaker grills off anyway ( changing the Speakers to JBL's ) I added green LED's inside that cavity......first I crinkled up a large piece of aluminum foil , then flattened it out and lined the speaker area....( I did cover the speakers and it didn;t matter to the volume )....the LED"s face down onto the foil and the entire grill lights up at night very nicely........PS I did hook them up to the turn signals on each side ...I didn't have to do any splicing because the LED wire is so small just put it in the connector and plug it back together works fine .........I did notice that in the DAYLITE the green was hard to see sometimes ....so I drilled 3/32 " holes in the upper rt corners of the grilles .....works fine now ....................Mikeguyver

One pic shows the bend in the led strip due to the curvature in the pod. I had to JBWeld the bottom area because it would not stick. You could use a shorter led strip. BTW, these are Custom Dynamics and they are bright.

Another pic shows a gap where you can insert a narrow and long plastic wire tie out to the bike side of the mirror. Fish along the top of the pod. This will give you an idea of how to run the wires later. I drilled a whole (3/16") at the TOP of the housing where the wires exit the led strip and mounted. When fishing the wires, I used a three conductor wire with two conductors cut off and then attached to the led strip wires and fished through. The fished wire will exit at the top of the bike side of the pod. Then just take some string with a small washer and fish that that through the pod's wire exit hole and to the other fished line , connect, and pull through.

Last pic shows that you can see the led strip from the driver's position.

Hope this helps.

I was also concerned about glare from them...
This is what I did on my 201, and I had no problems whatsover.
More Turnsignal Indicators 03.jpg
These were just a simple red 3-LED strip.
For my 2014; I added TricLEDs' indicator strip to the top inside edge of the mirror housing
No problems with it either! (and no pictures yet! :opps:)

Got a pm asking if ya had to take the mirrors apart ( you do not ) so I took my mirror off and ran some fishes to show how I did it...

In this pic I used heavy trimmer "string" to show how the wire will be run. You have to angle it towards the top of pod and keep feeding until you see on bike-side of the pod. Of course, the actual feed will be near the top of the led strip ( right side of the led strip shown in the above pic) after you drill an entry hole.

This is where it all comes together. You can see where the trimmer string exists and how I ran the other string with washer for fishing through the bike wire exit hole. You would tie the "washer" and "trimmer string" together for the final fish. You can also see how I connected the wires together with those twistie wire nut thingies. Hope this clarifies the job.
