There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Led lights 2016 RT-S

Hello all,

I am new to this community. I purchase late last fall a 2016 RT-S with only 980 miles on it. I love it so far. Unfortunately being in New England have only put about 1,500 miles on it so far. I struggle with visibility at night and would like to install new LED Headlamps and Fog lamps. I see found lots of posts about TricLED and Lamont and want to know which is best and brightest? I see Lamont claims there LED's are 6500k color 4000 lumen and 25 watt. The LED's on TricLED are 6000k color 360 degree but they do not tell me the lumens or wattage. Which do you feel is the best and brightest? On a side note the only other mod I am considering at the moment is a Baja Ron sway bar as I found sometimes turning into leaning corners sometimes feels unstable. This is my first Trike I have had multiple bikes in the past.

Thanks,
Dave

Welcome to the forum Bogart67! :congrats: on the new to you 2016 Spyder RTS. I think the Lamont LEDs are much better and there is a video on how to install them, you get the full set 4 head and fog lights now on sale. BajaRon swaybar is another good upgrade I have never heard anyone not say it was one of the best things they have done.

Add Spyderpops to the mix also. Prices are pretty much the same and it all depends which great sponsor you wish to buy from.

I am also interested in some lights. I don't care so much about who I support, what I am interested in is how the lights look on the road.

We just brought the Spyder home this past weekend, have not had an opportunity to take it out in the dark to see how the stock lights work.

There is usually the addage that you get what you pay for, but there have been times I have paid a premium price for something that was highly recommended by others and received some worthless crap. Found another product from another vendor at a somewhat similar price, and it was greatly different. Lumens and °K are interesting facts, but what is REALLY important is what you can see in the pattern down the road.

No one has a problem seeing the new F3 when I go down the road at night. I have headlights, driving lights, the signature light, lighted bumpskid, mirror lights, vent lights, rear brake/strobe lights as well as the OEM third brake light.

I look like a decked out semi truck coming down the road. All purchased from site sponsors.

I will also add here, site sponsors are vetted carefully. If they do not have quality products and service they are not put on as site sponsors.

We bought two sets of LED headlights some time ago from Pierre at canamspyderaccessories, com when he had them on sale for under $100 each. They did not include instructions but good installation videos are available at both Lamonster's and at SlingMods. The installation isn't terribly difficult although it does require the patience to removal of a ton of panels to gain access to the headlamp modules. And be very careful when removing and replacing the four hex bolts that retain the headlamp module to the rest of the machine (advise from experience and a momentary lapse in concentration). It took me something like an hour and a half to do my wife's Spyder and about half that time to do mine, and the results are pretty spectacular in our opinions.

I didn't opt for the fog lamp LED conversion because it's a monumental task, in my opinion, to swap the bulbs and we don't use the fog lamps much. My advise is that regardless of set you decide upon, be comfortable that everything fits inside the weather proof headlight module. Hope this might help.

Welcome to the forum. Do you really want to see down the road????

The expensive Clearwater lights are the best. But there are other driving lights around for under $200 that are better than LED for projecting down the road a long( ish) distance.

http://clearwaterlights.com I won one of their flashlights at a past Nor Cal rally----- It is really, amazingly bright

I'm very happy with the LED conversions that we had Spyderpops install a couple years ago. Spyderpops was setup at Lamonster Garage for Spyderfest and we had them switched over there. Good lights. Much more visible during the day IMO

I've been very satisfied with my Tricled LED headlights and fog lights. DIY instructions were easy to understand and complete. Someone with small, strong hands and fingers can install the left fog light but if you have to remove the frunk it isn't that big a deal, just a bit intimidating the first time and there are some excellent videos on Youtube on how to do it.
