LED Headlights?

SL forum,

What are the best LED headlight conversion kits available for F3's? I have driven the last few late afternoons and on my trip home have found myself driving at night. The factory headlights leave much to be desired as they are very dull even with the bright lights on. I did install LED foglights from Slingmods and they do make quite a difference while driving in the dark and now want to covert the factory headlights to LED.

Who sells the best and easiest to install, LED headlight conversion kits?

Thanks
Arcamguy

I replaced the headlights on a 2013 RT-S with a kit from XenonDepot, using Extreme 5600K LED's.
Took a long time; mostly removing tupperware to access the headlights! But very much worth it - they were significantly brighter than stock.

Good luck with whichever kit you choose - stay safe!

I got the Lamonster kit for F3- No Fans to break down and only half the wattage drain. Work Great on High Beam during the day and No one blinks at me. I don't drive at night?

hi Arcamguy

i recently went this way with my F3
i converted my setup from Aus to can/uS eg high/low in the middle....no fog lights(we call them low beams)

i cleverly bought some LED's from Ebay
several 3 am rides later and they were less than useless

then i rang peter Aarwen who informed me that the light globe itself dosent matter...its the position of the bright in relation to the lenses which gives the projection

looking at the Lamonster globes, they mention this(fogs admittedly)

i wasted $100 on LEDs

you are doing the sensible thing eg asking for feedback......daytime is not good enough...you need someone who can give opinion for night time riding....or go with aftermarket supplier(lamonster?)who can guarantee the lights will be better than your oem

FYI very similar to Lamont's:thumbup:
got some off EBay back in July been good so far IMG_9604.JPG fits H4 bulb (think is same bulb on F3)not super impressive but yes whiter light & no burn outs, the H4's were all too often. :banghead:

So Merlot,

Did you replace the LED's or go back to standard H4's? Contemplating changing out F3L to high low center with the DRL/Fog set in place of the low beams myself.

i put the standard halogens back in and used the h7 LEDs in the (now)fogs triggered thru a relay,by the high beam wire(i had a blown halogen so didnt fancy buying another globe when i already had the leds

but its not what i expected and was contemplating changing the trigger to the low beams,so i get the 4 lights on at low beam

i really like the centre light change tho, thats a winner for me

the H4s i bought also have high/low but i removed them before i could try out the LED low beam

this is high beam atm .....i bought a halo switch to go with the fogs, but it was too long for the dash location...i need to modify it

i also bought "landing lights"for the fogs location but they didnt fit as expected so i went back to standard, and i dont like external lights mounted
shame tho,as they had a nice blue corona which was on a separate circuit so could be switched with the low beam

Thanks Merlot, kinda backs up what I was going to do, as you can adjust the center ones up and down individually, I'll set as good as I can for compliance, I'm going for a set of LED H4 for the main lights and just taking the low beam wire to the unused on the H4 setup. Then making the fog lights into driving lights with the H7 LEDS.

Got to find some LED rings to put around the fogs..... Bling, I know... ;)

Standard light aren't what I like.... Although I came from a Goldwing F6B with LEDs!

hi bryster
you can see 3 wires coming into the socket
the top one grey/green is supposed to come from the dash switch(not fitted but is wired up ready) and powers the fogs
i couldnt confirm this so took power from accessories
later i found the heated grips switch was the same as the missing switch, and i couldve used this to check my fogs circuit

also there is no low beam pin in the f4 socket at the headlights...you need to improvise one as it is not a common size(its a little bigger....a real pita)
i ordered a bridging wire set so as not to cut the oem loom....i am still waiting for it

i ended up getting a F4 socket from supercheap

Thanks for information, I'll post how I go. I originally used H7's from Gemtek here in Aus which I found to be good in the F6.

I got mine from Slingmods.com . Plug and play and visibility is great.

The LaMonster LED set (headlights and fog lights) were one of my first mods. I took a ride yesterday and noticed that the right side fog light was out. I keep the fog lights on all the time, but I thought that the LEDs had a longer life than the OEMs. I guess that I'll have to do a "tupperwareectomy" to find out what's going on.
