• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

LED dash lights to better see our turn signel light indicators.

I want to add two LED panel lights, for better turn signel indicators, on the dash. I thought I read where someone explained the wire color code? Can someone help me.:dontknow:

Just a coincidence but I'm doing today exactly what you are contemplating. I was going to install the LED's somewhere on the mirror surrounds but thought better of it and decided to mount them in the upper corner of the temp and fuel gauges where there is space.

There is a degree of dismantling needed to get the instrument panel out and find a suitable route for the LED wiring to take but it's an interesting journey if you haven't been there before!

I'm using PosiTaps for the first time to break into the blinker wiring and connect the LED's - I've found the PosiTaps easy to use, a better solution I think than the old wrap-over connectors. (Scotch-lock?) I'll post some photos when I'm done.

This turned out to be slightly more difficult than I thought it would be, but not so bad to put me off. Getting the LED's mounted exactly where I wanted them meant cutting away some plastic material behind the dashboard. Using Positaps to connect the LED's into the existing wiring was very easy.

The 1st photo shows the wiring to the LED waterproof holders.
The 2nd shows the plastic moulding being pared away with a wood chisel (blue circle) to make space available for the LED holder.
The 3rd has the bright blue Positaps attached to the blinker wiring. The orange and black wires are from the LED.
In the 4th shot the wiring has been cut to length, connected up and the blinker plug coaxed back where it belongs.
The final photo shows the brightness and larger size of the orange LED's compared to the green blinker lights of the display.

Now that I'm retired and do have the time I don't mind the wait.

I spend some of my retirement time nodding off. My wife says I'm much calmer now than when I was working. How can I be anything other than calm when I'm doing a shift staring at the inside of my eyelids? I love retirement, shoulda done it when I was young enough to appreciate it. And to think I used to dread the thought of getting old! BIG mistake, one of many. :D

My retirement plan invovles being found dead at my desk in a puddle of drool... I envy you guys!
I have decided to hook my LEDs on the mirrors since it involves less disassembly and I'll have all of the wiring out where I can see everything.:opps:
I just need to get the Missus out of here for a while...:gaah:

I found this today and its only $25, its shown on a RS dash but say it will on a RT

That sure seems pricey for 2 leds and some wire & connectors... Here's an ad for some nice leds, with choice of color...
www.twworldtrade.com I bought several from them, and they are all metal case with backing nut to tighten, not like plastic slip-ins...

I feel obligated to share mine. This cost about $15 at Autozone. I cut off the 12V plug and just used the wires

There's a ton of stuff I like on the CustomDynamic's site but they won't send it to me in the UK. I wanted to buy a shorty antenna and I thought I'd start off by ordering that as it was a cheap item and easy to post in a mailing tube. But they said USPS charges would be "in the region of $100". They didn't actually know how much exactly but they "thought" it would be around that much. $100 postal charges on a $20 item is more than I'd be prepared to pay, so they have a point. :gaah:

with my sunglasses on the little dash turn signal indicator light is gone and at night is too small
with that big dash panel BRP could have done something better here

great ideas guys i plan to put some of these on my RT
