• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

LED battery gauge and missing air dam

Over the weekend I rode @750 miles. Typically I run at 2 green lights on the LED battery gauge at 4000 rpm or higher and the spyder runs at 3 bars on the highway (65 mph or higher) in 90 degree weather.

Saturday it was in the 90's and the Spyder went to 4 bars before exiting the highway and I was down to 1 green light on the meter doing 75 mph. After getting off the highway (the bars went to 6) and parking the spyder I noticed the Y panel was extremely hot. What first came to mind was that I had a blown right side gasket on the exhaust and the battery was on its way out and I wasn't anywhere near home.

Later after the spyder cooled, I thought it was quite a coincidence that both things happened at the same time. So, I opened the trunk and pulled the panel covering the the fuse/relay box. I reseated all the relays; the largest appeared to be loose. The next day I started the spyder and headed home with 2 green lights and 3 bars.

I know I'm probably the only one that doesn't periodically check the relays:opps:. From now on I'll be checking the relays more often. A valuable lesson learned.

I'm guessing here; but, does the large relay control the fan and the charging system (magneto)?

Seem to have the same problem with mine. Temp guage - seated the relays before I rode saturday and the Temp guage never climbed over 5 bars. Have had a few times when I saw 7.
Plan checking the relays before each ryde now.;)

Bill,

Does your cover have the foam padding in it? I know when I ordered my replacement cover. It came with the foam padding, but I had to install it myself. I wonder if you can just order the foam. Funny thing is after I broke the ear off the original and had to wait 3 weeks to get the new one. When I picked it up. The parts manager told me it was the same one the fits my jet ski. I could have used that to keep my relays from coming loose.
