• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The best riding day this year by far. We were on a great road and about 100 miles from home and I looked down at the dash and my GPS was gone. I'll be dammd. I pulled over, and saw the mount snapped in half at the base.

We Turned the Spyder around and traveled 12 miles in the opposite direction in first gear at 15 MPH on the opposite side of the road hoping to find it but never did. :banghead: We lost our GPS for good. Please don't buy a cheap plastic handlebar mount made in China and think you will save some money, because it will cost you more in the end.

This whole time I was thinking how foolish all of you were to spend money on the good quality Ram mount and now you all can assume I'm the foolish one now. :(

It's back to ebay I go for a used GPS and mount after I just got done purchasing these a few months ago. The story ends but if this saves another from making the mistake I did, than good for you and expensive for me.

This is the handlebar mount I purchased, so stay away from this or anything plastic and similar.

GPS MOUNT

Randy that hurts man. I feel you're pain. So I'm glad for the post but I don't like it......Mike....

I had the same thing happen to me on my last bike. Don't be too hard on yourself, live and learn. Things like this happen to all of us.

If the GPS was less than 90 day old and you paid for it with a credit card check your card holder benefits. Some credit cards pay for accidental loss.

I've had mine get bumped off and take a tumble a few times.... how in the heck didn't you notice it taking a dive? Must have torn the power cable out too?

Bummer man.........

I have no clue Fly. :dontknow: The power cord is zipped tied to the cable of my kill switch and the GPS had to of fell off in between my hand and knee. I had no clue it was gone. I thought for sure we would find the other half of the mount, cradle or GPS laying on the road but we didn't find nothing. We went the 12 miles backwards because I stopped to fill up with gas and it was there. It must have hit the road and bounced out of site.

we just got a Garmin 1450 with life time maps from Amazon for just over $100...new one...bum deal......

Thanks FBabe !!!! The problem with me is, I need the old Garmin's with the headphone Jack (765t). I can't hear the GPS without a headphone jack because of my pipe.

I'm stupid as well when it comes to the Garmin...didn't lose one..but the sucker died on me with a low power warning...Somebody please educate me...When you have the 660 installed don't you have a continous power supply when the Spyder is running...or even while it's shut off if the power cable is connected?..I charged it with my computer usb portand I'm surmissing that this is what kept it running for about 3 hours, then I got a low power warning...How come?....What's the purpose of the power cable being connected if it doesn't power the D*** thing?

Maybe someone at the gas station thought they needed it more than you? Surprise, surprise!

sorry to hear but things like that happen to all of us,ive lost to cell phones thet way, those cheap holders love to fly ,when your riding like the wind.:yikes::lecturef_smilie:

Randy, that really sucks. However I'm also thinkin someone may have dashed off with it. With it plugged in, I cant imagine u wouldnt have noticed it dangleing by the cord for the few seconds it would have taken for it to unhook.

Are you sure somebody didn't snap it off in which case your comprehensive should cover it

It probably wouldn't meet the deductible...
:gaah: I'm sorry to hear that it had to be such an expensive lesson Randy! :gaah:
On the bright side... your Christmas List just got a wee bit longer...

Wow... all that way in reverse. I bet your neck was sore.

Maybe someone will select 'Home' from your favorites and it will find its way back to you.
