Lava Bronze trailer now on the RT

We got the trailer for the new Lava Bronze back today and the set up looks good.

The total repaint cost $500 but mixing the paint alone by matching it to the bike with a spectagraph cost $130.

The stone guard made of poly film that applies to the trailer front was a $200 dealer item so I just had them spray bedliner in the same place as the stone guard was for protection. It looks pretty good. I'm having a problem uploading two photos to this thread so I will post the bedliner photo on a separate thread.

The body shop took the entire trailer apart and painted it inside and out. I had quotes from four shops with me supplying the paint.
-one was $900
-one was $1,000
-one was $1,500 (this is the place that is equipped to paint water based stuff)
-one was $400

The last one was the only one who told me that they would take the thing apart completely to eliminate the orbital blue. He also was the one who suggested that we not use the expensive factory film for stone chip protection and go with bed liner instead. He also took the time to show me photos of some of the neat cars he has painted in his shop.

It pays to shop around.

The purpose of the stone guard is to protect the paint from stone chips. If you paint the stone guard (or bedliner spray), you've defeated the purpose. You made the right choice!

Will you be riding to Canton next Saturday the 12th? Would love to see the new rig...
