• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

It is strange how the repair matrix is laid out. Are they saying that all shaft failures occurred before the cap mileage so that if you get to that point without any shaft problems you have a good shaft which does not need replacement?

And if they are replacing the front pulley regardless. Does that mean BRP feels the front pulley is the source of this shaft breakage issue? I would say an out of balance or out of round front pulley could create fatigue and eventual breakage of the output shaft.

It seems that the fix raises more questions than it answers.
This is all very interesting to me... I no longer have my 2018 F3, as I sold it last year with 79,000 miles on it. My front pulley was replaced twice with the "old" OEM pulley before the final "fix" with the new pulley as I had that red dust of death show up. I hope the new owner doesn't have any issues...
 
I have mine scheduled for next week, my dealer has the part in stock. They say it will take 2 days to complete!
 
I haven't had it done to my '16 or '22.RTLs. But I sure others have. What year and model are we taking about?
You shouldn’t have to have it done on your ‘22, fulltimer. That is outside the affected manufacture dates😉

Even Though Mine is a 2017 model F3S, I bought it in 2019 new. I have replaced the front sprocket, I have also received the letter from Can Am about the shaft, but reading the notes in the web site, I am well over the 35k's that leaves my bike out of the recall, so there is not much I can do apart from keep riding like I stole it! :cool: :cool:
 
I hope that anyone who gets the output shaft recall done gets back here to tell us how it went with your dealer and the tech who worked on it.
It'd be nice to see a photo of the Output Shaft Kit that Can Am supplies. What I worry about most is the engine needing to be removed to make the repair happen.

My 2018 F3-Ltd will go to the dealer for the fix as soon as the weather gets warmer here in NW Minnesota, gonna be a while!
 
I picked my completed 2018 F3-T this afternoon from Ride Now Powersports, Weatherford, TX. Mine was their second one to be completed. The Spyder was there 2 1/2 weeks, but the mechanic took off 3 days for family emergency in the middle of the work.

Drive belt was aligned but extremely tight. Some of the body panels are not installed correctly, at least to my nit-picky eyes. I'll fix that stuff tomorrow.

Good news is that they took good care of the custom paint!
 
For all of us who get the Output Shaft replaced, I'd suggest that you: check the belt to driven pulley alignment and the belt tension. It seems that it's a hit or miss proper adjustment with some dealer's techs.

I called my dealer and they ordered parts and would call me once they are in. I am only 2K away from being over mileage. I have been tempted to just let it go. But I feel a tad worried over it as well. I guess it makes sense to just get it done.

Follow up: overall, I'd give the mechanic an "A" on the job, an easy 96-98% of perfection. My bike has a lot of aftermarket lighting, air horns, etc.: I'm sure that slowed done the overall task of remove/replace the engine/transmission assembly. Although I tried to route wires following existing OEM pathways, and including connectors, none of it is documented in factory manuals. I checked drive belt tension: 120 on the Krikit in the air, 150 on the ground (my preferred tension). One long side panel pin did miss it's nest: that caused misalignment in a couple of panels but was an easy fix. Only one cable tie down of my aftermarket wiring was missed; again, an easy fix.
 
Well dropped Hookie off for the recall, came home and called Washington dealer and schedule Hooker for the end of May when I get back up North. Service writer said it was good that I got it schedule as they are doing a lot of them.
