• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Latches

Is anybody noticing how hard it is to get the latches on all the compartments to latch. I have to slam these things really hard numerous times to get them to latch. Sometimes the front trunk latches on an angle and then I can't seem to get it open without alot of force.

Try not slamming them. I get them closed with the latches lined up and just pop them with the heel of my hand. Works pretty well.

how do you know when the latches are lined up? They should always be lined up if you are pressing in the middle. This approach does not seem to work for me. Are you saying use two hands one above each latch

take it into your dealer for adjustment if necessary, however when i was trying to close the demo model before I had purchased, it was extremely difficult to get the compartments closed where the warning light wouldn't come on before I started the bike. The Bike was fine, my learning curve was not. I now know how to properly close a water tight compartment. you push it shut with just the right amount of force, no more no less. do it 50 times(only took me four, and you will have it down). I usually try to shut my compartments with my gloves on, this way I don't leave figure prints.;)

good luck, and let us know if you conquer this.

I noticed on the demo we had a difficult time with the latching of the compartments . For the money they want for these things they should close a lot better then they do. I would take it back to the dealer and get them to adjust it so it closes and latch's easily. I know you don't have to slam your car door to get it to latch and that is a water tight compartment and in a lot of cases cheaper than a:spyder2: !

Having had lots of bikes with bags and topcases, I want to say that the Spyder trunks and bags are about the most watertight in the business. They beat BMW bags all to heck. That waterproofing comes at a cost. The gaskets seal tightly, and compress as they latch, trapping a small amount of air that must be compressed to latch completely. While they will get easier as the weatherstripping compresses over time, they will probably always be quite tight, due to the excellent design. This is not a quality control issue (except maybe the front trunk latch initial adjustment), it is actually a sign of very high quality and design.

While they made need some adjustments to latches, especially the frunk, mostly they need a lttle technique. Close them snugly, then press firmly at the latch, or bump with the heel of your hand, to close the bearclaw latch. If you listen closely, you will hear the latch click into place. Once you get the hang of it, it is really quite simple and sure.

thanks

have finally figured out how to close the lids properly. Close them then push firmly with two hands above the latches and everything is good.:2thumbs:
