• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Last Hindle Questions (I hope)

I'd like some learned opinions about these questions. Is it necessary to remove the negative cable from the battery while swapping out the stock muffler with a Hindle. And, if so, why? If the ignition is off the whole time, whats the necessity?

Thanks for always coming through,

Tripod :joke:

When I swapped mine out , I didn't touch anything. Just took the old one off and installed the Hindle.

The reason for doing that was the (apparently incorrect) theory that removing the battery cable would reset some computer data and help the Spyder relearn how to run the engine with the new exhaust faster than letting it unlearn and relearn the data on its own. IMO, the jury's still out on whether removing the battery cable actually does anything besides force you to reset the clock. :dontknow:

When the head Spyder tech says it doesn't do anything then I pretty much go with that. He should know seeing he's the last call when the dealers can't figure out how to fix a Spyder problem. nojoke

Put a Hindle on (didn't disconnect the battery) last week and I've noticed a lot of "popping/backfiring" on deceleration. The sound is great, but is the popping/backfiring something I need to worry about?

No...not a big deal...do whatever everyone is saying not to do...disconnect the battery...:joke:

There will be some popping, but it shouldn't be too severe...it seems like I get some when decelerating through 4th gear...do hear other times, but very faint...no concern...

You can probably fix that with the JB.:f_spider:

Hindle

I just swapped mine out with the stock muffler, let it idle for 15 minutes and sit for 15 minutes. It popped a little on decel for awhile but that smooths out over time.

One reason I put that up is that I remember reports of some BRP folks being pretty adamant about BRP not putting anything but a steering update in the software update only to later admit that they did add something that might affect the engine running. Whether that initial statement was SpyderLovers members, dealership service techs or the salesmen take on what the official BRP word was or it was a case of the left hand at BRP not knowing what the right hand was doing, it's left me slightly questioning info about Spyder things. I also remember some folks swearing that the battery disconnect fixed a rough running problem. :dontknow:

For the time being, I'm through with any other ad ons at this point. BTW, lived in Shawnee back in the early 70's. One of our sons was born there. Enjoyed our stay.
