Lamonts right side heat fix

I just got my radiator block off plate from spyderpops. My question is, how do I remove the floor/belly pan? Did a quick search but couldn't find anything.

Thanks in advance for any help!

2 bolts and it kinda snaps into place... 1 bolt easy to get to and find on the outside edge. 1 bolt on the inside, harder to see and harder to get to... just follow the edge of the pan toward the front and you will find it ok.. then you have to the outside of the pan toward the front push in the locator pin and pop the pan out.:2thumbs:

If you take the belly pans off---don't forget to re-insert the bolts to help keep water from getting inside the frame.

I have read about this radiator block off plate from Spyderpops and wondered if it would be available to see and possibly have installed at Maggie Valley. Also interested in seeing ANYTHING that actually helps w right side heat problem. Everyone seems to speak highly of the block off plate. Maggie Valley will be my first Spyder get-together and am looking forward to actually meeting some of you in-person. I hope it works out that way.

SPYDERPOPS is in Maggie Valley now! We will be open for business at noon Wednesday and we are set-up between the Comfort Inn and the Festival Grounds.

We will be installing our parts here. Will be closed most of the day Thursday, going to Lamont's!

Open all day Friday and Saturday!

Ok. You know, I don't even know what the pan looks like. Does anyone have a picture? This is the first time I've tried to 'do it yourself' and so far it's an epic fail!

Ha! I think I got it! As long as someone tells me it's an odd 'y' shaped piece of plastic... :sour: :)
Maybe not such an epic fail after all!

Belly pan is a pain in the butt!

The belly pan removal is my only complaint with this mod install. If removal is required then at least provide some instructions on how to do it.:gaah:

For those that are wondering it is actually 2 screws in the center frame and 1 bolt with a washer and a nut near the lower air deflector fin to remove the belly pan. The bolt with the washer and nut is the HARDEST part of the entire install.

I did it without a jack but a jack is highly recommended unless you head is the size of a grapefruit!:yikes:

All that being said so far this mod along with the catalytic converter shields is WELL WORTH $66+$12.50 shipping. HUGE reduction in heat coming off the Spyder.

I would recommend this to everyone who has an RT.:2thumbs:

:agree:
That one bolt was a :cus:. I ended up using a dryer duct hole cutter and cut a 4" hole in the belly pan piece and then reinstalled it. So far has worked great and the heat has been significantly reduced on the right foot.

Now folks, this tip right here is why Spyderlovers is so great. I installed the Fan Can and also the LaBlock, but never considered putting the bolts back into the holes. I just put them in my Spyder storage box.

But what a great idea. I'll definitely be doing that. Nothing common about common sense.:bowdown:

I just got of the phone to order one and I asked about the dreaded "3rd bolt". They said to take the 2 bottom bolts out, swing down the floor pan then cut it off leaving the 3rd bolt in place.

Looking forward to this resolve the "roasted right foot syndrome" I also ordered the belt guard and the cat shield.

Regards,

Randy

Radiator Block for RT.

Just installed mine this morning. The "3rd bolt" was a problem, but I did not want to destroy the tray. The 3rd bolt is much longer than the other 2 and needs to be held with a wrench while it is loosened. It appears to have a lock type nut so it does take some time to unscrew. Then, because of the tight fit in the material, it has to really be pulled to come out. Once out, you have to pull hard to get the tab to come out of the place it is located.

hot foot

A question to everybody an that is since I blocked the top hole and removed the pan,my foot gets very hot from the side of the bike? is the air from the radiator now going there? i cant figure why,but it is very warm at the foot peg since I made the mod.

I put on SpyderPops LaBlock and removed both left and right belly pans. Heat on the right side is much reduced if you keep your feet on the foot peg. However, I have an ESI highway bracket is Kuryakyn ISO Wings which are located close to the lower vents and now my right foot really gets cooked when I use them. I have a ISCI FanCan for the RT but because of the shroud in the 2011 it's not a quick install. I plan on putting this on this weekend. Hopefully this will remove most of the heat on the right side.

I like your install tip ! Still keep the plate but just cut a hole in it .:2thumbs:

Hey Y Rider
I posted a pic of a simple tip that will save you a bunch of hassle for the RT install. Check out the link to my SteveMac Mods in my signature below. Good luck!!
