• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Lack of dealer competence

I had thought I had made an informed buying decision in my recent RT-S purchase but thus far have been very disapointed in the depth of knowledge in the service and parts department at the #1 rated dealership I purchased it from. Is the Spyder such a niche product that I need to cultivate a specialist as I had to do with my Saabs?

I'm sorry to hear that. I find it strange that most of the dealer problems I read on this board are from the West Coast, and CA being the most mentioned. :dontknow:
Makes me even more thankful for having a good dealer that knows the Spyder and cares about their customers.

I loved the Spyder when I first saw one a few years back, just like I liked my ugly little Saab. For the few miles I got on the RT-S I was in love with the riding experience, it is the dealer experiance that is driving me bonkers

Yeah I've been real lucky in that dept. I live in Sacramento CA and I get all my work done at Elk Grove PowerSports by far the best dealership I've been to for service they always take care of my Spyder all there mechanics get trained from BRP and always do outstanding work. I'm very happy to give them my business Jason is the Service dept Manager great guy

:welcome:--sorry to hear you are not happy with your dealer. There are good ones and not so good ones when it comes to service after the sale.

I am guessing that fellow owners from CA will chime in and let you know where the good places are for service.

Actually this website does a GREAT job of getting knowledge out into the hands of the ryders! :2thumbs: I have found that if you head into a situation knowing more than the dealer, you can keep them from trying to :cus: you. The trick is to never let them know ALL that you know... :ohyea:

So Grateful

When I read post like this..it makes me sooooo Grateful for my experience with my Spokane, WA (yea, Lamont that is West Coast,,lol) dealer, Roundy's..particularly Bruce the Spyder tech...I have in past experiences with cars/trucks what folks share here and trust me I was a pissed off customer (and that is not where a business wants to be in our relationship!!!!)....Heck on one Olds car I bought new..it had major problems, dealer just kept saying "in tolerance area"...I found the CEO of Olds dept in Detroit home phone #...called him at 3 a.m. his time...(now who is pissed??)...he sends a fellow out to WA state within 48 hrs (another not happy camper)...bottom line...dealership told where the bear pooed in the buckwheat and I got a new car that day.....yep if I have facts that I've been screwed without gtting kissed first I am one determined grannie...sort of the don't mess with her mentality. And heck I'm always realllly NICE when I work these issues thru...altho there are a lot of signs of frustration!!!! :roflblack::roflblack:

White Cycle & Marine, Chattanooga, TN... great Svc Dpet.

dedicated Spyder Tech (Jake) is pretty good at what he is
doing; and doesn't have a problem asking questions, when
he's stumped on an issue.

I've always been treated well there, and the level of work
has always been happy with the results; even when there
has been a screw up on their part.

Yeah, the dealership that my parents bought from assured them that they had seven fully qaulified mechanics. When the throttle body on their RT-S went bad, they couldn't figure out anything. Turns out they do have seven mechanics, but only one was Spyder trained and they didn't have a BUDS system at all. The dealership that I bought from only has one mechanic but he's the real-deal with experience and professionalism (unlike them who will remain anonymous). Too bad since the Spyder can be so much fun if you don't have technical difficulties.

I am in south bay also, I go to del amo motorsports and they are OK, I've heard that Berts Mega mall in Covina is great

Although I'm sure there are many VERY good dealers, Seminole Power Sports in Sanford, Florida is a PLATINUM service dealer and that name is certainly representative of the service work they perform.

:agree::clap::roflblack::roflblack:Murphy you rock!!!!

The biggest problem with a lot of Spyder dealers is the fact that most of them do not send enough techs to school to learn about proper procedures to service the Spyders. Until that happens we will still have PROBLEMS!:gaah:

Not having a trained tech (s) at a dealership is BRP's fault. All they have to do is say "send tech to our school and then you get the Spyder dealership (or inventory to sell)....!!"
