There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Kumho Ecsta AST

A few hundred miles on a rear ECSTA, so far...so good:thumbup:. Much cheaper and longer lasting, car tire sturdy over what seems to be a short life Kenda. Found mine online when I googled tire sizes and a local tire shop matched the price, was about 1/2 the price of a Kenda.

Thanks AMTJIM, That's what I was hoping for it seems that anything is better than the stock tire. I found one for $ 76.00 with free shipping Thanks Again.

I got 12000 out of the OEM tire and 17000 on the Kumho. I'll replace it with another Kumho before Spyderfest. One thing I noticed is that I experienced hydroplaning with the Kumho at around 14000 miles. I never hydroplaned with the Kenda.

I got 18,000 miles out of my last Kunho Ecsta in the rear, just put another one on!
Only got 13,000 out of my last set of stock tires.

I still run the Kendas on the front.

Got 12k miles out of the stock rear. The Kumho has 15k miles and still has a lot of miles to the wear bars.

I have 16,800 on the Stock rear and will change at 18,000.
Pep Boys will change and balance for $50? Is That a decent price??
Does the Nanny still help out with the Kuhmo if the rear starts to fishtail in sand or a burn out???
:dontknow:Does it still accelerate equal to the stock kenda??
:dontknow:I,m conssssidering it?

I got 14500 and 14200 out of my OEM rear tires, and I'm now sitting about 7000 on my Faulken 512 that I got from Discount Tire for $97 out the door here in Cali. hardly a dent on the tread. I'll be switching out my front tires when I take my Spyder in for it's last pre-paid service with Fun Bike Center here in San Diego. I chose the Faulken over the Kuhmo cause the Faulken had a mileage warrenty and the Kuhmo didn't....at least with Discount Tire.

Pep boys or anyone else can change the fronts. They don't have the means to do the R&R of a rear that I know of or the belt tension tester? Might want to re-check that.

How do you get the warranty from Discount Tire if you take the tires off and take them to DT for mount and balance? How do they confirm your mileage? Surely they don't take the rear tire off the spyder, do they:dontknow:

My Kenda was always breaking loose and hydroplaning by 6K, really bad by 8k. The traction control was very busy and got to the point where I almost couldn't ride it if it was wet at all, the rear would just spin up.

The Manager and tech both came out and looked at the Spyder and I showed them the Manual Diagram and they said to bring the wheel in and they could mount and balance the new tire? (I told them it was a Motorcycle type Mounting?):dontknow:

The Discount that matched the price here gave me a warranty without seeing the spyder at all.

Tire only could be done, not sure they have the machine that would match the spyders hub for balance though. Maybe skip the balance and use Ride On or a Can-Am shop? The Can-Am shop here uses a sonic belt tester I believe.

The center of my original Kenda rear tire was completely worn out at 9,000 miles. Tread depth on the ouside edges was still good. I replaced the second Kenda with just over 5,000 miles although it was not completely worn out. With just over 9,000 miles on a replacement Kumho Ecsta, it's still got miles left and it appears to be wearing evenly across the surface of the tread. I ran 26 PSI in the stock Kenda but, since it's a car tire, I'm running 32 PSI in the Kumho. I believe the Kenda had a little more grip but that's just a seat of the pants feel and the extra air pressure in the Kumho could be the difference. I live in a dry part of the world so I don't get to play in the rain much, but I've had both brands hydroplane. The original Kenda front tires have 23,300 miles on them and are still in good shape.

WHEEL BALANCER

This is just for info purposes....Harbor Freight sells a wheel balancer for around $ 50.....a lot of mtc. shops buy and use them because of they way they work....it's a stand with a threaded rod on ball bearings you put the tire/wheel on the rod then place two large rubber cones on the rod and thread them tight to the wheel hub...now you spin the wheel and balance it....they say it will work with a tire that's up to 15 inches wide and will fit any hub diameter.....i'm not suggesting you buy one....but you can look at it....harbor freight.com, it's interesting......Mike....

if the outside edges were still good, then you had the tire over-inflated.
