• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Any of you spyder riders who are hams, where, how, did you mount your antenna.
Got the micro mini BTECH 25x2. Have a Laird 1442n antenna in route.
Its a NGP, NMO.
But still trying to find a mounting location on my 2018 F3 limited. Thinking about coming out from under the trunk with a mounting arm.
Ideas??

Thanks
Walt (kk4vky) and the ASPHALT EAGLE.
north central florida, where we ride all year round.

I don't know about how an F3 is configured however on my 2013 RS and my current Honda CTX700 two-wheeler I used the Givi and Shad top box mounting systems to attach a hardware store flat strip of aluminum, which works for me. It has some flex but not too much. Your 1/2 wave antenna should be ideal as it won't rely too much on a ground plane for a decent match.

this is interesting
most of us think ham is Easter dinner or a slice at breakfast.

Ham operators are pretty helpful in the real world, during weather events for one.

Many years ago my uncle was stationed in Labrador or Newfoundland while in the Air Force. Phone connections from there to Lakeland, FL where my aunt (his wife) lived was not an option.
They spoke twice a week via ham radio. Some guy in Canada and Mr. Anderson in Lakeland made it happen.

It was the highlight of the week for my aunt and uncle for sure.

Ham radio is good, better than Green Eggs and ham even.

My hat is off to them for the good stuff they do,

Ofdave, thankyou for the kind words about amateur radio ops. We had ham operators working the florida panhandle after the last hurricane.
people sometimes forget that after major events all communications are down, phone, cell towers, internet. But ham radios don't need all that NEW technology. Old way will always work.
Btw i don't use ham radio while riding, only when parked at a nice high location.
