Kirkit II Help!!!

I have purchased the KR2, 7401-0102, 100-300 lbs. Is this the correct Kirkit?

I have a 2011 RTS/SE5.

I have had this for a while and was waiting till the dealer set the belt tension to check it with the KR2. I have watched the video's on how to check the tension.

I have the rear tire off the ground. And I am checking the belt approx in the middle of the sprockets. For the life of me I cannot get it to "click". I have even resulted in using my other hand, and applied more pressure with another finger to try and get the "click" and I am still unable too.

Im thinking the KR2 is broke?

Any suggestions on what my prob could be?

You have the right Krikit.

You need to leave your Spyder on the ground. When you raise the rear tire off the ground (suspended) you reduce the belt tension and you'll get an incorrect reading.

You have to press the Kirkit with 1 finger straight down with steadily increasing pressure to get the correct reading. Krikit centered on the belt mid way between the sprockets. Should be a piece of cake.

You do have to reset the Krikit each time, of course.

How do you reset it? Are you talking about the arm that raises as you apply pressure to the belt?

Do you have to rest it some how so it can click again?

Just reset it to Zero (0).

It takes a little practice to get steady, vertical pressure. If you don't press straight down on the finger slot you won't get an accurate reading.

I suppose there could be something wrong with the gauge but I've not heard of that before.

I have even tried to get it to click just pressing down on it while it was on my work bench amd still couldnt get it to "click". I dont know?

Sounds like..!!

you have a faulty krikit. If you can borrow one or get another to make sure. Without the click you got nothing...:gaah:

I don't think it will click on a solid surface. But I would definitively try another one to see if the Krikit is defective.

Mine will not click on a solid surface. It works buy the belt flexing causing a U shape and triggering the click.

Well i have tried this biy even trying to use 2 fingers. One on top of the other to pull down and still cant get it to click. It shouldnt be this hard.

I have a NAPA model KRII and it will click right on the surface of my desk.

Yep, as I was looking at the design of it, it didnt see any reason why it wouldnt or suppose to "click". Its based on the pressure being applied to the "thumb" portion of the device. The arm that gives you the reading is just going off the angle of the belt in reference to the kirkit. The reason why they say to go slow when applying pressure, to make sure you are not continuing to apply pressure after the "click" which would give you a possible higher reading than you actually have.

Thanks for clearifying that it will "click" on the work bench. I even went as far as applying pressure using the handle of a screwdriver and it still wont "click".

OK I just tried it again on the bench. It does click but to me I have to push harder than on the belt. So I was not pushing hard enough I guess when I tried it.
