Here is the updated air intake design. When I first posted this the Spyderlovers posted a concern about the PCV routing, so I updated the design and this is the new setup. The PCV is vented straight to the throat now, so no oil should get in the filter area at all. Also, I worked over my suppliers the best I could and got the price down a little.

Thanks for the feedback and I love having this forum be involved in the design process, it makes a better product and sometimes forces me to do a little more to get the product what it should be. There is a little more machining involved in this design, but I think it's worth it.

This one is installed in my Spyder and will be tested this weekend and then it's being ridden from Prescott to Las Vegas on Monday to be put in the SEMA show.

Matt, you are to be applauded.:clap::clap: You announce a product, read the feedback, and make some changes all in the same week. And you do it all with a smile and words of appreciation. I think there are a lot of manufacturers that would not be as gracious or accommodating. Once again you prove that the Spyder brings out the best in people! Well done!!! :2thumbs:

Very nice. A real improvement I think with the oil vent line running directly into the ports. I just might have to try one out.

Very nice Matt, just waiting on your wifes thoughs on the dbs....Are you located in Prescott if so I'm close in Camp Verde and would like to chat some time....Dennis

I would like to see a comparative video highlighting the noise level. I like the concept, but I am concerned about the noise.

Thanks for all the kind words guys!

The intake will be noisier than stock for sure. I changed my pipe back to the Kewlmetal pipe for the SEMA show so I can't hear the Intake at all now! LOL! The Kewlmetal pipe is too loud for the wife so she has been running the Hindle. I really don't like the Hindle and am looking for something else that I like and she will tolerate. If it was only my Spyder, the Kewlmetal pipe would be it. It's loud, but it sounds so ferocious and lambourghini like that it's really fun.

If you have an aftermarket pipe that's a little loud, you probably won't even hear the intake noise.

I think mine intake has a little lower noise level than the Evoluzione. If you try mine, and the noise is too much, you could try putting some foam on the inside of the top lid, and adding a foam wrap pre-filter around the outside.

I like it, and would buy it.----Am interested in the noise though. (don't mind a little intake growl when you get on it just don't want it to be obnoxious for normal riding.):f_spider:

Wife's Test Ride

Her Words: I couldn't even hear the air cleaner any more. Only thing is, we have a louder exhaust on now than before. But I think it's pretty clear that this new air box is not as loud as the Evoluzione.

I am pretty happy with it, the noise was one of the reasons I wanted to do an air box of my own.

Matt,

I may have missed it; but, when will you start shipping? It's not like I'm in any hurry. My spyder is up for the winter.

Matt, what happens with the idle air control valve hose, that large one (about 1-inch diameter hose) that enters the stock airbox on the right side at the front, when the original air box is removed to install this new setup?

The Idle air control gets a little foam filter of its own. That will come in the kit.
