• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

K&N VS Green Filter

Is the green filter that much better? The K&N is $50.95 and no shipping charges. The Green is $68.95 with a $14.95 shipping charge. Is it really that much better? I would like to know as I am a novice at this stuff. And really that much for a small package?

I have had them both side by side and they are the same for the most part. K&N has had some QC issues with fit and finish on other applications but none with the Spyder that I'm aware of.
The green filter is the trendy new kid on the block.

I installed a K&N because I have been using their air filters for decades since the last century.

K&N air filters are in all my vehicles and used K&N air filters in my race cars and race bikes. Never had any dirt problems.

trendy

yes, I went with the green filter, I like new and shuny things like a '' pack rat''. it's a K&N so that's what matters.

THE FILTERS

I have both, one in each of my Spyders. The only difference is cost. I would get the K & N ........But you are paying way too much......Do some on-line shopping......You should find it for around $35 delivered..........Mike

And what would you recommend for mileage intervals for cleaning and replacement on these filters under normal driving conditions?

Probably never. I know people who say 50k if your looking for a mileage number.
Remember, they filter better when they are a bit dirty. Washing them to much ruins them.

None of the above. The oiled gauze filters just pass far too much dirt into the engine. Insignificant HP increase is just not worth the shorter engine life.

Quite a long history of 'dusted' diesel engine turbo chargers not covered under warranty due to the defective design filters.

Modern synthetic media replaceable cartridge filters are much more efficient than the paper elements of old. The supposed improvements for going to an oiled gauze filter are just not there any more.
