• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. K&N air filter

I removed my air filter and found a purolator part number on it, I called my local parts house and found it crossed to a K&N P/N 332006, Advance Auto priced it at $39 and change.
My goal is to help the engine breath, in return, run cleaner and hopefully stop fouling out spark plugs (4 sets, 2550 miles) with only a couple hundred miles. with new plugs it runs great, no smell, smooth accelloration at lower RPM's, decent gas milage, etc.. Symtoms are heavy handle bar vibration, (like my 1966 HD) Stong! gas smell in traffic, Random stalling out, and random back fire that makes the hole bike shutter.
To all you and my dealer that thinks its fine or normal, FORGET IT. I will not take my BMW or Harley D motor cycles to the dealer and tell them to make these machines smell like gas, stall out or backfire.

Have you tried higher octane gas? Regular gas, 87 octane, has no detergents in it, higher octane 91 or 93 may stop the plugs from fouling.
Worth a shot??

Fouling plugs on a fuel injected engine, controlled by an ECU, is certainly not normal. I would demand that the idiot dealer put you in contact with a BRP field rep. Insist on it! You may have to stand on the dealer's head a while before he sees it your way, but be a stinker. You deserve better than this. All Spyders do not run this way!

Not only have I had it to the dealers 4 times and well documented, I have a call number with the factory that I call every time it goes in and when I have to wrench on this unit myself. I always run 93 octane

Have you tried running the recommended 87 octane? There have been many posts on here about the ill effects people have experienced running a higher octane. 87 should runner hotter than the 93 and will probably cure your plug issue.

As the next step I would insist that they replace all the sensors and the ECU. If that doesn't cure it, time for new throttle bodies. After that, time for a new Spyder. We'll keep our fingers crossed for you.

8000 miles here and mine is very lean no plugs or gas smell, but very lean starves for fuel at 3500 to 4100 rpm. If I did anything like a cold air intake to mine it would run terrible. Stay on dealer, its fuel mapping issues IMO mine is not bad enough to report but too lean to modify. From the posts I've seen the fuel mapping is very inconsistant. I myself am hopefull for a power comander
Good Luck
Jim
