Just to confirm my rear tire size and brand

I have done some searching on here and for my 18, the best rear tire seems to be this: General Altimax RT43 215/60-15

If that is the right one, Ill order tonight. Just wanted to confirm.

Thats what I have on my F3T. It's from a close out batch of tires at Tire Rack. Note the RT43 has been upgraded to an RT45.

You could also run a Altimax 225 60. That is what has been on my Spyder for the last year

That's what I'm running on my '15 F3T. I go with 20 lbs PSI. I could be wrong but it seems to me the ride is a little stiffer than the original tire but its not a big deal. I haven't noticed a difference in handling.

Having researched both tires. The 'Upgrade' to the 45 is minor, at best. Different tread pattern. But testing by Tire Rack (which I think is exceptional) did not find any significant differences. Both are great tires.

Any decent car tire is going to ride a bit stiffer because both the sidewall and tread area are of stronger construction. A stronger tread design keeps the entire tread section in contact with the pavement at all times. Unlike the ballooning Kendas wearing out 2.5-3" of tread in the center. The stronger sidewalls keep the tire from rolling under in hard cornering (as the Kendas will do). Which is most noticeable with the taller front tires.

Both are significant improvements and well worth the minor downside.

I have the Altimax (215-60-15) on the rear of my Spyder for over 20000 miles now .. I always ride 2 up and run the tire at
18 psi. It still looks real good across the tread.

When the new Kendas came out I purchased the front and back tires, they were better than the originals; now I've just installed a General RT45 215/60/15 - Wow! The ride is so much better, I will never go back to Kendas again.

When I went to pick it up, he told me was unsure of tire pressure, and put 30PSI in it, and I bounced all the way home. So what was the correct PSI for these?

The only differences in tire sizes for all models & so far, all years of Spyders is that the pre-2013 models ran 14" front wheels - they went to 15" rims up front in 2013 to fit the Brembo brakes. So anything from 2013 & on will be running the same size 15" rims and pretty much the same few sizes of tires that will fit. :thumbup: Unless of course, someone's done some extensive mods.

So apart from the obvious differences between OEM & A/mkt tires, the answer to your question is YES! :yes:
