• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Just (physically) installed a voltmeter

I bought and placed the 2" 52mm Digital 20 LED Electronic Volt Voltmeter Voltage Gauge For Car #7029 from eBay in the dashboard of my bike, but not sure what I'm doing on the wiring. According to my circuit tester, I have the ground and switched power in the connectors behind the gauge, but don't have a battery connection. So....

  • Is there a reason that this requires switched AND non-switched power? Don't I only want it when the power is switched on?
  • If it really does need both, did you use the wiring behind the gauge for switched power and ground?
  • I presume the unswitched power needs a fuse?
  • For the 2014, isn't going straight down behind the gauge the best way do get down to the battery?

Any help would be appreciated before I start tearing into things.

Yes wire it so it only works when the ignition is turned on with the key

Use the wires that powered the gauge that was in the hole previously and you will have it powered so that it only works when the key is on. Let me know if you need more info on how to do this

Got it done - have both positive leads going to the switched power.

The lead that is intended to go to the battery unswitched is so that the gauge can light a warning LED when the battery gets low and the bike is not turned on. Just having to show me the voltage while I'm riding is enough, just not worth the trouble to run the other lead to the battery and install a fuse.

Thanks for the help.
