Seduced by the sizzle in the current BRP Can-Am ads, and all the fun you guys seem to be having, my wife and I bought a blue 2011 RT-S today. Drove him home and then started doing more practice in the local school parking lot. Neither of us are prior cycle riders; this is our first. So more practice needed! But the drive home (about 12 miles) was a good introduction too. We just got our cycle permits yesterday.

Still on order are the CB Comm system and the BRP helmets (matching blue) with the comm bits, 'cause we want to have easy chatting while we go cruising. First aftermarket part is gonna be the Spyderpop heat shield (thanks for all the insights here on this forum - you guys rock!). I noticed the heat down there even on the test ride.

We're in the Seattle area, so looking forward to meeting up with any fellow :spyder2: folks in this neck of the woods.

The :ani29: was Teddy & I's very 1st cycle back in May of 2010 & now we're close to a total of 23000 miles & on our 2nd RT-S :2thumbs:

Your right about this forum, it's the BEST:firstplace: site on the web when it comes to anything & everything SpYder related :2thumbs:

Best advise I've ever gotten or given to new Ryders, (not so much to total newbies tho) is to learn to let go. Seems many converts from 2 wheels to the SpYder have a tendency to grip too tightly, causing you to fight yourself & makes for a tiring uncomfortable Ryde. Think the best way I've heard it explained is as follows: Imagine you have a baby bird in the palm of your hands & you don't want to crush or hurt it, but you also don't want it to get away. That's the way YOU WANT TO GRIP THE HANDLEBARS ON THE SPYDER:agree:

:congrats:guys,Thanks to the :spyder2:it's possibe to begin riding at any stage of life. You two have a ball. i have the spyderpop heat shield on my RT and it works great. I live near Portland but get to Seattle a couple times in the summer.

Congrats!! My wife wouldn't ride with me on 2 wheels but we did a 4,000 km trip last fall after getting the RT and are doing a 7,000 km trip this summer.
