• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Just got the 2012 RT 622 hooked up to the new2013 RT S

Ordered the new hitch kit and the new plug and play trailer harness to fit the "square four" hitch connecter. Also changed the lock tumbler on the trailer ( it comes with the new RT S) to use same key on everything. Very difficult getting the old lock tumbler out with out the original key. I bought trailer used from a dealer and the key did not come with it. Backup lights on trailer do not work and are not supposed to. 2012 on do not have bulbs in them.
I HAVE EMERGENGY BLINKERS, TAILIGHTS, BRAKELIGHTS. AND TURN SIGNALS. (RED ONLY) LATER TRAILERS HAVE NO AMBER SIGNAL LIGHTS. I am happy with all.

As the saying goes "don't even know its their" but better not forget. It does not seem to effect the braking much when the "trailer mode" is on because it shifts down sooner and at a higher RPM. This is accomplished through the square four hookup. Also sensors in the trailer mode connect to the VSS. Empty the trailer does not bounce at all due to the torsion bar suspension.

This is a great trailer and is the only trailer you can pull and still retain your warranty. I was given an extra two years making it four years total due to BRP promotion. See you all in Springfield!

Congrats..!!

glad you got it all done and it is working to your satisfaction...so many posts here with problems get things to work. Pic's of the whole set up roadster and trailer..:2thumbs:

As you have discovered, the trailers after 2010 have similar taillight assemblies to the RT, but they are not equipped with separate turn signals. None of the trailers ever had functional backup lights (or wiring outputs). The 2011 and later trailers are all 4-wire. The connector changed to a suare-4 from a round-9 in 2013.

I modified a 2010 trailer to fit up to my 2012 RTS SE5 with a new 4-square trailer tongue harness off eBay and gave the round trailer harness to a fellow Spyder rider with a 2010 RT that had bought an aftermarket trailer.

My 2010 trailer light housings had amber bulbs in both of the outboard turn and backup positions. They were wired together but weren't wired into the trailer's main wiring harness. And they were a bastard European maybe (non SAE) base with the locking pins NOT 180 degrees apart.

I replaced all four of those bulbs with 1156 versions of red LED bulbs and wired then into the stop/turn wiring of the trailer's OEM red LED's in the center section of the light housing. I had to grind down one pin on each bulb base just enough to allow it to fit into the bastard socket and still be a real snug fit.

The red LED bulbs are clear when not powered and the lenses on either side of the center section of the housings are also still clear. But when I step on the brakes, the ass end of my trailer lights up big time red. What ever it takes to make folks behind you take notice. And you can't miss my trailer's turn signals.

In the 4 wires you have connections for ground, running lights, left turn signal, and right turn signal. Were you told that the trailer was sending information to the vehicle computers using those wires?

The trailer does not send information to the vehicle computers. That would require additional wires and a CANbus connection. The 2013 and newer RT/ST SE5 may sense the trailer connection via the current draw or a similar means however. One owner reported that trailer mode did not have to be manually set on the later models. I have not confirmed that.
