• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I hope the first one works I just dropped my 08 SM5 off for a new DPS. Just dont want to end up like some of you that had to get 2 or 3. It took 3 weeks to get this one. I know stop :bdh:

Mine has worked like a charm after they replaced the first DPS, Rick. Best of luck with it! At least the're fixing yours in the winter, they did mine in the middle of prime riding season.

Good luck. I'm taking mine in after the first of the year. Carlo at BRP was very nice and I hope that mine gets repaired also. I hope everything works out. Keep us posted.:2thumbs:

It seams to be fine i gave it about a 30 mile ride through the twists and all good eating dinner and if it dose not get to cold maybe 1 more short ryde.:2thumbs::clap::2thumbs:

Glad you're having some good rides with the new DPS!

Just curious, can it be driven if the DPS breaks, or does it render you having to getting a tow truck?

What happens if the DPS breaks, in general, does it just not do power steering. Is it difficult or impossible to drive without the DPS working at 100%?

thanks and ride safe!

mine did not brake it just would not turn at a stop if you were moving it turner great. now that they fixed it it all most turns to easy but i think i will be used to it in a couple of days. I will find out as long as the temp stays above 34 and the rain and ^&*( dose not fall. hope that helped if not i will try to give more info.

Everybody that are having the dps changed have you all had steering issues or is this preventive

Mine locked up while making a slight right turn. mine was always hard to steer from day one of owning it. It was used as a demo before I bought it with 260 miles on it. I had the recall done and there was no change to the steering. After leaving the dealership, I made a stop and after starting it, I started getting a scroll on my dash, "Check DPS". The recall picked up a problem with the original DPS. As far as I know there is no way to prevent this and if your experiencing a change in your steering it get worse over time. If your not moving and can't turn your handlebars, thats a good sign that you'll have more problems down the road.

If the DPS starts to act up, you dont have to call a tow truck. Simply pull the power steering fuses(which are clearly marked) and drive it in manual steering. Get it to a dealership when you can. Dont continue to ride with iffy powersteering as it could veer unexpectedly to left or right.

On the contrary... at least on mine... the steering issue existed whether or not the front fuse was pulled. Never got around to pulling the rear one.

OK, ATA I have edited my comment to include both fuses. Of course this does not include every possible steering failure that could ever occur, but I would certainly try this. I would take it easy on the way to the shop, though.
