• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Just Curious

Just curious when most top off the engine oil - do most wait until you reach the "add" line and how much oil will it take when you do reach the add line?

Thanks

I run mine about half way between the add and full marks. Less tendency to suck oil up the crankcase breather line and into the airbox. That problem can be solved with a small piece of foam filter material in the breather line however. Ryde Safe and Enjoy:thumbup:

Ok - After reading about the airbox problems - I decided to run mine a bit low as well.

Ok, I have another one for you guys, I'm sure you've all heard when some cars or trucks start up, you can hear the main bearings and or lifters clank away for a few seconds until the oil pressure hits them - the other day I started my Spyder and it did the same exact thing - for a second or two I could hear the engine until the pressure hit it. The next morning, I started it and no noise - that evening I tried it again, and still no noise.

Has anyone heard this before?

I thought I noticed it on the Spyder the other day, but decided I was dreaming or something. My Beemer does it almost all the time. On that engine it is supposedly caused by the cam drive tensioner (I think). It is hydraulic, and requires oil pressure to keep the tension. Bleeds down when it is not running. Hydraulic lifters can do it sometimes, too.
