• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I just purchased a new Spyder RS this month and I'm hooked!! Its finally past its break in point and im thinking of throwing some accessories on it, Just not sure what I should get or even where to begin! Should I do exhaust, and if I do, is there anything else I need, or just put the new pipe on, maybe a shield, or if there are any other little mods to add more horse power, any help will be appreciated.

:welcome::congrats: on the new ryde.

Recommend putting a thousand miles or so on :spyder2: before you start to accessorize. The :spyder2: is a very specialized machine and people are going to dress them up in various ways.

Usually seats, windshields, bar risers, mirror extenders, and luggage items are addressed.

Performance options are also another ball game.

See what you like and don't like and then go on from there. I have put items on from the start and regretted that decision later.

Ive got almost 3k miles on it already, hasn't been a day I haven't taken a ride! Where is a good place to look at online for accessories? I want someone with good prices as well, rather than full pop at a dealership.

:agree: Work on learning what works and doesn't work with the Spyder in it's stock form for awhile, then you can make a wiser choice as to what needs to be added and what doesn't. I'm near 3,000 miles now and just figuring out what to add. Glad I waited or that would be money down the drain!

:congrats::welcome: I agree that riding more first and adding mods a little later usually results in a better
and more satisfying selection. there are just too many options to pick from to begin with.. Its always great to get to know other ryders and get their reactions to different things they have tried.. take your time and be happier

:congrats: and :welcome: let the modding begin. Make the Spyder your own and mod it to your liking. Happy Spydering !!!!

Genuine BRP accessories are only available from dealers--Yes they are pricey--but so are the add-ons from any other make.

Our forum advertisers are also a very good place to look for :spyder2: accessories.

Can Am Spyder is new enough that there are not a lot of places to buy :spyder2: specific add ons.

If you are looking at gear like jackets, helmets, gloves, boots, etc.--there are a lot of places out there.

I went into my Spyder mods with a plan, immediate, mid-term, long-term:

1. Safety first (0 miles): LEDs, modulating lights, mirror extensions, etc. These I did as soon as I could, no regrets. I also count good safety gear in this category-- your first $300-$1500 in aftermarket mods should be used for what sits on the bike. Also bought my immediate road necessities: cleaners, 12v compressor, tire repair kit, etc.

2. Local convenience (1-1500 miles): beadrider, grip puppies, upgraded windshield, drink holder, soft bags (tank, passenger seat, sides). And an upgraded anti-sway bar . Anything I could use to make running around town better. Also started upgrading my tool kit around then (new motorcycle jack, jack stands, torque screwdriver/wrench, etc.)

3. Long-distance touring (1500 miles+): risers, footboards, pegs, upgraded seat, hard bags (hopefully... Santa??). Anything needed for long-distance comfort.

You can mix-and-match between categories, of course, and no need to get everything at once. But the plan helped focus my mind, and my wallet (I just scratched stuff off of a spreadsheet as I bought them).

Oh, last thing: don't forget, before you get mod happy, you've got service appointments to budget for as well... this is NOT a hobby for those with a weak stomach!

Just not sure what I should get or even where to begin!

Do you want to go far or do you want to go fast?

Far:
taller windshied
more comfortable seat
highway pegs
saddlebags

Fast:
swaybar
green filter
Two Brothers or Hindle muffler
Juice Box Pro

Lake Mary as in Florida? If that is the case, there are several of us that ride together, and of those several are RS's. You might want to go to the Florida Forum and look for one of our rides (this coming weekend to Starke) and see what additions have been made to our spyders. Just a thought.

All my first mods were for personal comfort and riding position. On my 09 RS SE5, first came a taller windshield, handle bar risers and my Seal FloorBoards which I designed to greatly increase feet movement and reduce leg cramping on a longer run. For me comfort trumped trick in the beginning.

Ride in comfort,

I am in Sanford if you decide to do an aftermarket pipe or other accessories I can get you a good deal. I ride a RS-S and also own a 38K mile RS. I own Scooters Performance in Sanford. I have a Two brothers pipe on my RS-S and had a Hindle on the RS.....I searched you tube for videos of different pipes and fell in love with the Two Bros pipe. Better yet you can just ride by the shop and hear it I ride pretty much everyday.
