• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

JUST BEING SNARKY

Hahaha.......a most enjoyable thread.....it has brightened my day significantly:D:D... It’s strange though.....I can’t recall ever seeing “brake” spelt “break” on the Aussie forums, only on the American ones. I wonder why :hun:

Pete

In the US we say “spelled” not “spelt”.

isn't Spelt a small fish?? Oh no that's smelt, liek this thread, smelt something something strange Ah drat, I gotta go mow my lawn.

Ha ha trust me I'm the worst and rarely ever proofread before hitting the send button. Sometimes my text look like a new take on morse code.

:roflblack: I learned how to type in high school and was quite good at it, I can not type on my phone though and I need to add a disclaimer that says “if something I typed doesn’t look right just replace the letters in question with the letter closest to it on the keyboard.

A learning moment. Thanks to Google.

Spelt, past participle of spell.

also

It might be because we enjoy 'freedom of expression'. That has led to great innovation in the use of the english language :joke:

We can forgive the British Commonwealth countries for mispronouncing "aluminum" as AL-U-MIN-EE-UM since they spell it that way, "aluminium"! But how the heck do they get "LEFT TENANT" out of "lieu........"?

While we are at pronunciations, can someone explain to me how the name Brett Favre has come to be pronounced Brett Farve ? I know he even says it that way. I think I know why but always have been curious about that.

Probably because to them, a 'loo' is a toilet?

"In British slang, of which there is a great deal, the word loo refers to a toilet. I assume they do not want to give the impression that a leftenant is a resident of a toilet as in loo-tenant."
