• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Just a little more storage on an RT..??

With standard storage and a trunk bag on out RTL we can go 10 to 12 days before having to wash clothes. Wife is a great packer; she rolls everything instead of folding.

We have to use the trailer if we go away for more than one night :yikes::yikes::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Check out my Tote rack and Universal Hitch Mount or the Golf Tote kit on my website. You can carry a light set of Golf Clubs or a carry on bag and still haul a trailer if needed.

I'm working on a carrier that includes a dry box. One for the trailer hitch and one for without the trailer hitch. LOL can't find the photos of the prototype anywhere and it's back apart now.

JT,
 You're starting to make my PayPal account get nervous...
Tell me some more, about the one that doesn't need the trailer hitch! :2thumbs:

Well it is a carrier for a 15" x 20" x 12" dry box that is held by bungees to it so you just unhook the bungees and carry it in like a piece of luggage. When not in use the carrier can be disconnected by pulling a couple of pins. There is still a small part on the swing arm but you don't even notice it. We have used it several times and it holds a surprising amount of clothes and does not block the tail lights from view. And the best part it won't hurt your PayPal account much :D. I figure why buy a $500 trailer hitch if you don't have a trailer so a carrier for those without a trailer made sense. All those that went to the LBL ride got a chance to see it.

I don't do a lot of longer rides, but I met a couple at the spyder rally held in Fontana last October. They had a trunk rack and used it to store their rain gear. That freed up some space in other areas and also gave them quick access to their gear when it was needed.

Will it work if you DO have a hitch? I'll be interested to see the pics when it's back together!

I suspect that the 20 lb. limit is over cautious, but I can't say that with certainty because I don't know how BRP came up with that figure. But at the same time, I have to wonder why that weight limit for the trunk is so low. That rear storage module is a fairly sturdy piece, and it is bolted to the frame with some hefty bolts.

My greater concern about loading up the "Show Chrome" trunk rack is that the way it mounts to the trunk lid might cause stress at the attachment points. Some folks have reported cracks there. That is partially why I got this rack from Value Accessories instead. (The other reason was that it doesn't hide the high brake light.)

When going up for SpyderQuest last fall, I had that trunk rack loaded with a medium size trunk bag, and also a fully loaded backpack on the passenger seat. I had a little room to spare, but not much. i would be fairly comfortable on any extended trip riding solo in this fashion. But frankly, I don't know how folks who travel double on the RT do it without a trailer.

Just ordered this rack ( in chrome ) for the circuit yellow RTS. The black ones will be on the website soon and the chrome ones will be out in about a month.

I have the high mount brake light--and this rack will let it show through. THe new rack is adjustable ( the one pictured is not). The "safety chrome" should look better on the bright yellow.

This rack is for the rain gear and cover. only a few pounds total. Heavier stuff is divided up between the frunk and side bags.

Don't know what rack you are referring to???? My rack and bag combined weighs less than 5 lbs. so i can safely add up to 15 lbs of items. and the bag has a waterproof cover.

I have exactly the same setup in the back. Living in N. GA, you need rain gear, plenty of gloves, neck thingys, elect jacket, controllers, etc. Little weight for the back and it leaves other basic storage for all kinds of stuff. Got caught in snow a week ago and I was on a PGR mission, only 10 miles from home. pulled into the workshop at the Cemetery, got dressed up and home in 1/2 hour. Temp was 39, but huge, wet flakes and had problem wiping visor and w/s, went through 4 pairs of gloves! My Alaskan fishing gloves were at home - never forget them again! Roads were fine, just wet. Yesterday we had two services at the same cemetery and 70 degrees - gotta be flexable.
