• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Jump start pack

I have this one: https://www.amazon.com/Lightning-Rescue-Ultra-Start-Pack/dp/B00LLH8Q5C. I bought it when I was working at a dealership, I was skeptical about them when I first saw them but a customer bought one and came back the next day telling us how he had jumped a diesel truck with it for a guy stuck on the road. I have used it and it works fine. I used to pack a set of motorcycle jump cables when we went on long trips, now I just make sure we have the lighning pak.

I have the same one. Purchased mine from a dealer (Caswell's in Mora last year for around $100). I have used it twice - once on my Spyder and two days later on a fellows Audi that was stuck at Costco. He was amazed that it would and did start his car.

Suspect that the wire gauge that tenders connect with wouldn't handle that much current well
:yikes::yikes::yikes:nojoke

I think no longer than we are charging / jumping it wouldn't be a problem. please someone with more electrical experience feel free to chime in here....after thinking about it, 1 could use the battery tender connection with alligator clips & and just hook clips to clips . Yes or No ?
I would try it ...

I'm pretty sure the usual battery tender wires would instantly fry.

The Spyder starter motor will more than likely pull >100amps.

I'm too "Old-School" for my own good... :opps:
I carry a set of cheap jumper cables in the bottom of the frunk.
It's probably time for an upgrade! :D

That is essentially what I used to do. They were lighter weight ones that could be used on our bikes and then the Spyder.

I also bought one of the antigravity units from Pitbull at Spyderfest in 2015.

A set of jumper cables will work just fine.

Advantage:
No matter how long they are stored in your trunk they will still work. Jumper pack should be charged every 6 months, but will still work up to a year.

Disadvantage:
Need someone else to help you. Jumper pack is a one person job.
Depending on where you are parked. You may need to push Spyder to a new location for access from the second vehicle.
Takes more space to store then a jumper pack.

We have the Microstart Anti Gravity and I mostly use it for powering my laptop when we do alignment events. I don't carry it around in my Spyder though because I was worried about it starting a fire. I guess I wasn't crazy for thinking that as recently my Spyder wouldn't start and I pulled it out and the case had begun to bulge. We thought we had bought it at Cycle Gear so we went there and they couldn't find where we had bought it but they exchanged it for us anyway. Gotta love Cycle Gear they sure know customer service.

I bought one of the X-10 antigravity batteries, too. Everyone talks about using them for jumpstarts, which is great. But the real useful thing to me is I can use them to recharge my SENA blue tooth headsets while I eat lunch on long trips. (The power outlets in the truck are turned off when the Spyder is off.) I can also use them when camping to recharge stuff if there isn't any power at the site.

You can make the outlet in your trunk operational even when your Spyder is turned off by moving fuse #6 in the right hand fuse box to the #7 position. See page 145 of your Owners Manual. I use a dual USB in my trunk and charge the Sena's that way when we stop for lunch.

There is often more important disadvantage:
You need to have an available 12 volt source of power. nojoke
Where I often ride: traffic is "few and far between". I'd be better-off, if I packed a tent, provisions, and a sleeping bag! :D

The cables should be at least 8 gage, and that would be for a short time
