• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

juice box is the culprit, according to BRP...

If I'm just putting around - probably 4,000-5,000 rpms is a decent shift point--- when I'm riding hard (which is most the time) - I take it 7,000+ before shifting. I rarely look at what it is--- but the times I have paid attention I'm often close to redline.

You can hit 60mph + without leaving 1st gear. I don't even think of hitting 5th gear until 65mph---- and that is really on the low end. I've heard of many hitting 5th gear at like 45-55 mph and that really lowers the RPMs to the point this engine isn't very happy---- it likes 5,000+ RPMs.

Ride it like you stole------

:agree: Totally! No 5th gear till I get to at least 70.

5th gear with people riding 45-55?:yikes::gaah:

HDX did mine last night. Not that my bike ran really bad or anything but better to be safe than sorry:2thumbs:
No he didn't He gave yours a COLONOSCOPY mine is staying the way it is it is called product liability.
Bye the way he found 2 Spastic Rabbitts and 1 malfunctioning wiffle valve :D

Do what you want but I tend to think that HDX and the rest of the gearheads on here know the Spyder better than BRP does:2thumbs:

That I agree but you will not have a chance with a major engine claim while under warranty I agree and glad Glide does not have this canister and it just lets loose on pavement.I will take the wait and see attitude
and get a Lawyer if and when needed :ani29:

But if there is a malfunction you just have to reverse what you did. but yeah, I like the lawyer idea too!:2thumbs:

after recall upgrade

Bike still running rough. stock bike except for micron. Runs good in cool mornings after bike heats up starts backfireing. I did have a ECM replacement under warrenty. I now have 12000mi.Service mrgs. and brp are working together trying to find out why some of us are having the problem. We will just half to wait and see what they come up with.:dontknow:wildwillie

Sounds like BRP should have used a "smart" evap canister, one that had a sensor in it to tell the computer when the gas vapors were sufficient for purging. :dontknow:

Oh no! You mean we have a STUPID Evap Canister?

I have had the Update done on my stock Spyder. I am on a fairly long trip and the bike just runs better every day. (knock on wood). While I always had a little surging in the 3-4 k rpm range that has gotten smaller and mover to the 3k range which is less noticeable.

The fuel mileage goes up every day. While this bike had gotten 30MPG for 30,000 miles it got over 41 MPG yesterady in some pretty hard mountain driving. Today I am sure I will have to drain some fuel out of the tank before starting.

I have never smelled gas on this bike. I fill the tank to the very top of the rim on every fill up. This is a habit I started because of the poor fuel mileage.

The update did not 'fix' my power steering though. It made it less scary but it still has problems. Problems I can live with though.

I guess the software has uncovered some defective parts that were there all along. For those bikes without those defective parts, it seems to have made a great bike better.
