• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

To those with concerns, I would not argue oil is dirty; but complaining about oil while living and benefiting from it during the "petrol-age" would be like living in the "stone-age" and complaining about rocks.

So many complaining about oil drilling cannot wait to use the product in one form or another each day; whether it be their vehicles, clothing, heating, air-conditioning, medicine, housing, computers, and on and on. Look up the many uses of oil and how it is used to manufacture or grow just about everything people use to survive and/or enjoy life.

If anyone here is seriously concerned about drilling on the globe then they likely may want to not ride or own a Spyder, or any recreational vehicle. It only helps perpetuate the use of oil and the need to drilling; and quite frankly is hypocritical. You wouldn't wear a fur-coat while complaining about the killing of animals.

Either way... drilling will not stop until people stop using, or wanting to use so much oil. It doesn't look like that is going to happen anytime soon.

Sorry, but if i was the captain of that ship, a friggin kayak wouldn't stop me. Just putt through slowly...if someone chooses to paddle into my vessel, so be it, in the drink ya go. Morons!! Way too many people looking for camera time these days

BOOM!!! Well put

Either way... drilling will not stop until people stop using, or wanting to use so much oil. It doesn't look like that is going to happen anytime soon.

And it's not likely to happen until there is a realistic, cost effective, & viable alternative - and quite frankly, that's never going to be wind or solar.... Not unless it's the 'ultimate' in solar; the one that these days, we most commonly call 'nuclear'!! Sadly, it seems that the people who most ardently object to continuing to use oil as our major energy source are often also those who most ardently object to anything associated with what has proven so far to be the only realistic long term alternative!

If 'we' spent half as much money & effort on researching & advancing the development of nuclear power as has been spent on protesting against it &/or the ongoing use of oil, the world would probably already have 'safe & clean' nuclear power that didn't leave us with long lasting waste or untenable risks - but we have too many who refuse to take a longer view & can't look beyond their own immediate issues or concerns; are simply hypocrites who cry "I'm thinking about future generations!" without considering the horrors & strife those generations will face if we don't maintain or improve our current levels of energy production; & those who support/join in on any/all of the faddish NIMBY protests going whenever something that might help progress humankind towards independence from oil as a major energy source looks like finally getting off the ground!! :yikes:

Putting my soapbox away now :opps:

Hi Peter,

Re: Putting my soapbox away now

For anyone who has an interest in the future, I would recommend reading this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Long_Emergency

I thought it was going to be rather dry & scientific, but I could not put it down.

I do not agree with everything that he writes, but a lot of it I do agree with.
